So. Warmest day (ish) of the year and my air con has decided to give up. It actually blows warmer when I hit the max button than when it's switched off. It was working fine in the warm spell at spring bank so I suspect that all the gas has fooked off. Halfrauds sell a two part kit by STP for £60 plus £10 surcharge for cylinder disposal. Has anyone used one of these or anything similar please and if so do they do what it says on the tin? |

Cheers nmj. I have considered this, but if it is only partially degassed, then this kit should do up to 3 refills. However if it is completely empty it will not fill the system. One part is a pressure gauge which costs £20 which will indicate how full/empty the system is. Also I could use it on the other car if required. |

I wouldn't bother with those diy kits there are loads of threads on them online saying how dangerous they are and can cause more damage than they are worth. Something to do with only monitoring one side either hot or cold whichever you fill! Have a look on group on always loads of places doing Regas offers! |

Kwik fit had two goes at doing mine and although they said the system didn't show a leak it was leaking and they refunded me. I then replaced the condenser and got kwikfit to fill it again and it's been fine for a couple of years now |

Done the Groupon thing and got it booked in for Saturday morning at a local place for the princely sum of £24.50. Just hope it's gas and not a leak. |

If it is low on gas pressure then you do have leak somewhere, fridge systems don't 'use' any gas they just recirculate it. The other thing is that topping up a system that has a leak will give an imbalance in the blend of gas used because the part of the blend with the smallest molecules will leak away first. Make sure wherever you have it done that they vac out the system and cure any leak before refill with new gas. There are a lot of Cowboys out there. Agueroooooooooo. 93-20
