A long while ago a very nice person off this forum sent me the front pulley and bearing from the Air conditioning pump, I was a bit of a Censored and deleted all my PM's and as I'm getting on a bit and never been good with names I have totally forgotten who it was... Embarassed Embarassed If it was you please shout up as I need to envelop you with kind words and thanks....

Back in the cold dark winter the worn bearing that had been making a noise when I bought fatty over two years ago, finally called a death shriek and it was getting embarrassing driving down the road, it was far too cold to even do it in the garage so I just cut the belt off and left it at that...

Well today I decided I better sort it out.... the outer piece came off easy enough, you remove the M6 bolt holding the front part of the clutch on and then screw in an M8 bolt, this pushes it off the splines and it comes off fine, then the pulley is held on with a circlip, got that off but the pulley was stuck fast, two years of running a worn out bearing had either misshapen it or created a burr around the edge... no way a puller was getting on it without removing it from the engine, the radiator is about 4 inches in front and all the pullers big enough to get round it are far too long.. so I came up with this...

Pretty it is not and the welding is appalling but it worked, screwed the M6 into the center of the pump then undid the nut and it pulled the pulley off, I had to wind it the entire way off but it didn't take long... In my defense I was welding at arms reach downwards in a black hole... Rolling Eyes

The new pulley tapped on fine, the rest went together and for the first time in two years not only is the aircon ice cold but it's quiet as well...

Cost 8 for a new belt.... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

So thank you again to by " Embarassed forgotten" benefactor, I am very much obliged.... Thumbs Up Pete

It was of massive use, thanks mate, nice to be able to see what your trying to remove, did it all with a mirror propped against the radiator... I would have had to remove the pump and empty the system otherwise, and that looks like a real fun job, you can't see the pipes or mounting bolts and there is little room to play with... And the new ones bearing is spot on... Thumbs Up

So thank you very much for the bit's, and I'm sorry I forgot who sent me it... Embarassed Pete

No probs. Thumbs Up
as a matter of information, the bearing in question, is now available on the bay, a lot cheaper than when we looked pete.
around the 16 quid mark, but of course just for the bearing and not the pulley as well.
I have purchased one, just incase mine needs changing.

Update time... but on me, not the FF

Saw my surgeon Monday, he managed to argue the toss and get me top notch hips that should last 25years on the NHS but they will not budge on knees, they will only use cheap ones, they have a life expectancy of about 10 years and they wear, ions are released and they can attack the bone around the joint making it very difficult to do it again, with the one he recommends this doesn't happen so it lasts longer and is doable again... the ridiculous thing is the "super" knee is only £80 more than the cheapie but they won't let you pay extra and won't budge on it....

So decided to have it done privately, I'm having a Aesculap Orthopaedics Columbus AS Knee System which should last a darn sight longer and be revisable....

Being done Thursday so nothing will be done on the fatty for a while whilst I recover....

With six screws and a load of wire in my back, two new hips and now a knee my Mrs has decided to not have me cremated when I pop off, she's going to run me in at the scrap dealer.... Rolling with laughter

And I'm only 53 for gods sake..... Rolling Eyes Pete

One of those will probably upset your FF Stan... too much static.... Rolling with laughter hope that goes well, was looking at them when mine was bad, before they diagnosed the worn out hips... hope it works well for you, heard some good things about it... Thumbs Up Pete
