My car kept on draining its battery and today the auto electrician told me that there is a short circuit in the left (passenger) side headlamp assembly.

LRSA quoted R26000 (GBP1300) for the assembly.

Is there anything that one can repair inside the light, could it be that there is a short in the ballast and not the light itself, or should i just pay the GBP1300?

Not sure how desperate you are but these things are not £1300 quid in the UK. I had one replaced a while back on my 2007. It was the one with adaptive and cornering lamps too (most expensive one) and this was a shade under £700.

Try Dan at Duckworth parts. Even with shipping you should save a stack of cash on the price you have. Fitting is a 5 minute job.

What's the age of the car? I know the 2002-2005 headlights can be taken apart relatively easily. Current:
