The amber engine check/management light suddenly came on whilst driving 2 days ago and remained on throughout the numerous starts for the last 2 days.This morning it was still on as i went to work but then the light went out when i started her up to come home.

The car has been running fine both pre and post amber light.

So before i cough up £30 to £50 to get the diagnostic code(s) read would anyone have any idea what it could be that causes the amber check engine light to go out on its own?

Poss Lean burn bank one or two or MAF prob (clogged up) but you WILL need to get the codes read to find out exactly what.

......although diagnostics will state the fault code im after a reasoning as to why the amber check engine light would go out on its own without being cleared.

If it's the MAF, then the dirt/blockage could have cleared momentarily and the engine runs fine until the MAF malfunctions again?

Are you on LPG? That will have an effect. could need a service or re-set

the amber light will extinguish on the 10th (I think) restart .
