If the car came with the large 7" screen most of the parts are already there.
Extras list -
You need a camera that outputs in American NTSC format.
You need a Video Switching signal circuit
You need a short length of video cable fitted with a female RCA socket on one end (other end bare)
You need a few metres of insulated hookup cable
You need to add 3 recepticals to the plugs on the big silver TV box in the left hand rear side of the vehicle
* The video cable centre goes to White connector pin 13, shield to pin 14
* The Video Switching signal goes to Blue connector pin 17
You need to tap into a (brown) ground wire
You need to tap into the (white) wires going to the reversing lights at the centre rear of the vehicle
* This goes to the camera power AND to the Video Switching signal inverter circuit
Video Switching Signal -
The digital signal inverter circuit consists of a single transistor and 2 low power resistors, total cost around 50 cents. The parts are directly soldered to each other and to 3 wires, then trimmed and then encased in hot melt glue for insulation.
Buy a small signal NPN type transistor, a 10,000 ohm resistor and a 100,000 ohm resistor (One/eight or one/quarter Watt types). Look up the transistor pin out pattern on the internet. Typical part numbers are BC337, BC547/8/9, 2N2222, etc
The 100,000 ohm goes between the transistor Base and Emitter pins, the Emitter then connects to ground.
The 10,000 ohm goes from the reversing light wire to the transistor's Base pin.
The transistor's collector pin goes to the Video Unit's Blue connector pin 17.
Take a look in the Wiki (link at top right of every forum page). The reversing camera install listed uses a much more expensive electro mechanical relay to supply the Video Switching signal, but the pictures are good.
