Mine has now had a modification based on the service bulletin. The information from LR dealer was vague on what had been done, I was told it was a oil drain pipe modification to the second turbo and a DPF regeneration. I have nt been able to look under the engine to see if anything was visible. The work was not covered under warranty as its an inherent defect but was covered by land rover as a goodwill gesture. 2012 4.4TDV8 VSE

My 2009 TDV8 always smoked when the right foot was planted hard but recently it got much worse. No noticeable decrease in power - or so I thought. Noticed a bit of oil around then nearside intercooler hose and mentioned it to main dealer when it went in for a service in March this year. They found nothing. Smoking got worse and took it to my local independent. Offside intercooler hose split and was blowing oil across to the nearside hose! Quick rear with gaffer tape to get me home until the new hoses fitted the next day. The difference in performance is incredible and I'm no longer lying a smoke scree like a 2nd world war destroyer. |
