2012 Rear light retrofit

i know this has been covered (which is fine) but i have a 2002 and have 2012 rear lights. I know before doing anything i will get the hyper flashing as the check control is checking the bulbs.

I know you can get harnesses etc but would prefer to fix with coding.

Can i use navcoder to code out the check control on the rear lights and then will they be good to go?

Thanks

Dan

You can't code out the cold or hot monitoring on the side lights or indicators no matter what tool you have... Pete

Hi Pete thanks for all the advise so far it's great - I'm definately not saying I disbelieve you but I saw this screen when connected to a rr will this not commit the changes then?

The various computers and software packages allow for changing settings but if the ECU in your particular car does not have the software to use the additional setting it won't work. I don't know what your car is running but I ran into similar issues with my NAS 4.2 where I changed the CCF but no change could be done to either software or wiring issues.

The computers/software packages are designed to work on all models, hence the option for changing hot/cold monitoring being there but not working on certain models as suggested. Sorry Sad MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Dan, was that computer connected to your car? Or a later RR sir? The LCM on the 02-05 RR will NOT support those changes, however... The LCM on a 05-09 RR will...

You can always buy a LCM for an 05-09 and retrofit it to yours & try it then... I think it will probably work just fine Thumbs Up

That was mine you can see it says module August 2002 I didn't try to write the changes - I may be wrong but I thought the Lcm was based on the e39 module for which I know this works

The LCM from the later models works fine in the early cars. I got one for mine and turned off some of the light checking settings which means you don't need resistors or anything else to fit the 2012 lights.

The correct LCM will say LCM IV or LCM 4B on the sticker. The X5 LCMs also seem to work if you disable some of the check control messages that the RR doesn't have.

You still need the resisters even with the later LCM ECU, if you don't your rear lights are massively too bright and it looks like your driving round with the rear fog lights all the time

Hi how are you so Im kinda sort of hijacking the thread and see you are in Durham. Question did you do the facelift on your truck? If so I am in the middle of doing it on a 07 and have a few questions. I have not bought any of the resistors for either front and left but I am talking with Jr eclectic about theirs. What year is your truck and what year did the LCM that you used came from. Thank you
