Fog light hid upgrade.

When I first got the ff I replaced the fog light units as the 1s on there were worn. The reflectors were flaking and full of sand Exclamation
Any way after replacing them both I thought of replacing the halogen bulbs to smd led bulbs.
Soon after I got the error message on the cluster so reverted to halogen again.

What I want to ask is can I do I hid upgrade to the fogs ? Will this cause error messages on cluster ?

Same goes to the halogen high beam.

I'm asking as the high beam and fogs feel dated.
What are your thoughts on this.

I was thinking on doing a ccfl upgrade as well.

Cheers

If you want fog lights to be useful in fog leave them alone. White light from LED's won't work well in fog.

If they look dated, leave them turned off

Stans got a pair for sale, don't know if they'll work on yours though.

As Andy K says, the warm white light is much, much better for fogs, and indeed is better for main beams too. Fogs really don't need the power of HID, and any disruption to the beam pattern is liable to render them useless. I know the warm glow is not fashionable at the moment, but it really is better for vision. If you want to do something different, go the other way - selective yellow bulbs are great for fog lamps. Thumbs Up

In particular with the main beams, when you feel that they're dated, just remind yourself that they are making up where the HID projectors are lacking. Halogen is older technology, but it still has its advantages. Smile Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

so if you want to keep the fogs/mains as they are but maybe want a better looking 'light' then replace with halogen bulbs (off ebay) that give a whiter light.....i did my mains with these cheapy bulbs which cost only £8 for the pair and it got rid of the yellow look. ... - .- -.
