A "thingamabob"

Hi all

L322. The heat shield has fallen off between exhaust and boot floor. The holes in the heat shield have rusted to around 1 inch, but the "pegs" that hold it up are still there.
My theory is to put it back up with penny washers and hold it in with a "thingamabob"!!!

Seriously tho, what do you call the twist on washer/fasteners? I thought they were called Spire clips but seems not when trying to buy some. And am looking a bit stupid as the man in the shop has no idea what I'm on!! Embarassed They kind of push/twist onto slight threaded pegs to hold non structural things together.

Pic of peg

(Well done to anyone that understands that!!)

Thanks in advance

Weegie, if it weren't for the not knowing how hot it's gonna get driving 800 mile to Spain soon, I'd bin it as around locals it don't make any difference..

Espaceboy, thanks fella!!! Close but not exactly what I had in mind but would do perfectly well I think! They may be the route to go down! Thank you.
The ones I had in mind were like a thin pressed tin with a nut shape pressed in it with a large split hole in.

Damn I know that don't make sence!!! I reckon your call is better!! Thanks!

Bit of a rip off though. Spire clips would work or Starlock washers.

Weejock. The "posts" arnt proper threaded so can't get nuts on them, so no go on the spires or star washers.

But, the other things are exactly what I was looking for!! Thanks buddy!! Will order them in morning! Your a star!

Thanks to everyone for help. As always

For a dozen quid I'll order them and put it back on. Thank you so much. Am going to order those ones. Looks like the size of them will be the same as a penny washer. So perfect.

You guys are diamonds. Thank you. Accept, some days your the pigeon, some days your the statue!

If the hole gets too big for them, I find cutting up a coke can and adding that under the peg saves it from falling off. Happened on a mondeo i had and the fix worked perfectly.
