Does anyone make a better radiator for the M62 V8 RR than the OEM unit? Mine has started to leak again. It was last replaced in mid-2014.

Surely someone said the OEM unit is rubbish and we can do a better one.

I replaced mine with a Hella one. I think that is the OEm one? no probs so far.

Yes, I've seen mention of the Hella unit. I checked with my supplier today and they can get the Hella. Is it the same Hella as in lighting?

I put a Hella one on mine as well, nearly 5 years later and it's still fine. I thought Hella was OEM too.

What pressure coolant reservoir caps are you using? Mine had a 200kPa cap but now runs a 140. Ron B. VK2OTC

The very first cars ran a 140 cap, they then went to a 200....

You need one of these, reduces the temperature significantly and also the pressure, rad and everything else under the bonnet lives longer as a result...

I fitted one of those a few weeks back, Pete.

The car runs about 93 deg C (according to ScanGauge) with our reasonably cool 22-27 deg C days. I wonder what the temps will be come summer when we get 40+

I just had a look at MicroCat and found the cap specified is:
Up to VIN (V)1A001049, it is PCD100200L (which is probably the 200kPa cap)
From VIN (V)1A001050, it is PCD100070 which is the 140kPa cap.

My car's VIN is 34A145nnn so I don't know why it had a 200kPa cap. Ron B. VK2OTC

Re the above, what I don't understand is the VIN. The 1A indicates a 2001 build/model but the L322 didn't start until 2002.

Mine is 4A - a 2004 MY

Can someone with an early model advice the relevant number on their VIN, e.g. 2A for 2002, 3A for 2003? Ron B. VK2OTC

Mine was Sept 2002 and it's number is 3A******

According to Dan it required a 140 cap which it has had for two years now, along with the lower stat and no issues at all with the cooling system.... Pete
