The problem will almost certainly be power related rather than EAS related... Start with looking at battery cables and engine earths. Sounds like there maybe a fault with a connection.

Hi, thanks. I have recently fitted a replacement dvd drive for the sat navigation, I wonder if it could be that? Only other things have done is to replace front side lights with led bulb and replaced rear window wiper and unblock. |

As Craig said, classic dirty contact on one of the large leads from battery via positive post on bulkhead to started and alternator...

So you think I should disconnect the battery and clean the battery lead contact surfaces?

AFAIK on our earlier ones it doesn't wake up when the key gets near, only when you unlock it...

when you look at the clamps on the terminals, there should be a bit of the post sticking above the clamp. this means the clamp is (low down) and gripping, if its high on the tapered post, it will be clamped, but possibly not gripping. its normal to clean up the posts, and inside the clamps, with some sandpaper type stuff, and then to wipe some decent amount of Vasalene over the contact areas and then bolt down etc. this stops the build up of that white crust, that makes the connection 'dry'/high resistance.

Problem solved. Loose negative connection in battery, didn't appear lose after I first looked at it, I guess the mechanic must have disconnected it when I had the lpg system serviced. |
