2006 Range Rover Autobiography 4.2 SC V8 Java Black

2006 SC, Suspension fault after tire change.

Getting a bit confused...

I got the Suspension fault after a tire change.
Plugged in the IIDTool and got this fault:

Cleared the fault, but it returned immediately.

Ok, a faulty sensor, no problem.

Changed the sensor, same problem.

Ok, a faulty wiring then, fitted a EAS Sensor Repair Harness.
Same problem.

Other tings to notice.
1. It will go trough all height modes without problems.
2. If it sits overnight, the rear right will be lower, but not to the bump stops.
3 .If i pull the fuse to the compressor, it will not lower any of the corners(measured over 3 days), so i don't think i have an air leak.
4. The front left suspensionis about 15mm higher than the right one, both rear are the same height.
5. If i run live values for current height form the IIDtool, all values will change in sync when i raise and lower the vehicle.
6. Deflated all airbags with the IIDTool, all corners deflated equal and to the bump stops, raised back to normal height without problems.

2010 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Galway Green

I notice that the IID shows a 15 mm difference in front height. Maybe that is the problem. My suggestion is to check both heights in real life and bring them to the same height in the software if that works.

My reasoning is that the software would allow for some difference between left and right and front and rear but when that goes over a certain value (close to 15 mm maybe) it triggers the fault. Hence my idea to bring the heights closer together, with the car sitting on a level piece of ground and the actual suspension heights at the correct measured value.

I think it was Joe90 that did a description on measuring height correctly and how to adjust it. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

There is a 9mm tolerance in heights as standard, the system can't tell if it is level, only if it is within the tolerance per wheel that has been set.. i.e. it doesn't have a build in spirit level...

Being 15mm out won't worry it at all.. Pete

Thanks for all the help guys. Everything is now back to normal.

Measured the cabling all the way to the suspension module, all ok.

Did a full calibration and after that everything was ok.

So was the sensor faulted in the first place? Put the old one back again, and it gave the same error, swapped in the new one, fault gone.

So a faulty sensor giving me the same error as incorrect height calibration fooled me.
Gotta love British humor.

One a side note. After everything was ok the LCD display was stuck in "Off road" mode.
The solution to this was to deflated all corners, and re enable EAS. Rolf Johansen
