Afternoon all, I'm not sure if this is normal or not.. but my 2012 Westminster doesn't seem to blow warm air when its set to "Auto" - this morning I had it set on 22 and it was still blowing cool air at me after many miles (albeit very gently!).

If I turn the fan control all the way up it gets a little warmer, and then if I push the button to send all the air to the front, it gets much warmer very quickly. As soon as I hit auto again, it goes back to gently blowing cool air again.

This doesn't seem normal.. and my 2008 Sport was very efficient in this respect.. so I'm wondering if its expected or not?

Mmmm if it was an older car it would be simple, the heat sensor in the panel got clogged with dust but since it is such a new car I think there may be an issue with said sensor OR there is something wrong with the control motor of the flaps but again, that is something for the older cars usually.

Since manual operation works, I'd say it is more likely to be a software issue (ECU needs an update although again the car is too "young" for that or should be) or the sensor again.

Is it possible your car is doing what it is supposed to?
When your car is set to 22C what is the cabin air temperature?
Also what is the incoming air temperature at that time?
On Auto your car could simply controlling the cabin temperature, albeit discreetly, even though the incoming air to you feels cool.
In my older car set to auto the incoming air temperature or volume never seems to change much at all whatever the weather but when measured the cabin temperature is almost spot on to the setting.
Only time I really notice the incoming air temperature and volume changing is first thing when outside air is particularly cold or hot.

This morning it was 13 degrees outside and I had the temperature dial cranked up to 22 - normally on the Sport that would have been 18 - I accept different car/cabin, etc. hence my posting here.

I tried turning both temperature dials all the way to Red, but there was no increase in fan speed. I then tried turning it one notch back, again no increase on auto.. the fans only ever get fast when I physically turn the fan speed knob..

I found the same thing. Even if you turn up the temperature it doesn't really do much.

I have to turn off the A/C to get any heat. Then it responds more quickly. I suppose it's logical but in all previous models the Auto setting has worked to heat as well as cool with the A/C on all year.

Anyway just turn off the A/C switch and see how you get on..... 2012 5.0L S/C

Pretty much the same answer I just got from the dealer over the road!

Popped in during my break and he listened to me, then smiled and said "is it on Auto?" I said "yes" and he said "yep, you need to turn it up yourself, then it will warm up.. Auto is climate control and the car will maintain a comfortable temperature using the AC"

I explained my older Sport was different and he agreed.

Remember to adjust the heater wheel under the central locking Button middle vent ( on 2012) to either hot or cold depending which you want as that makes a massive difference if set to the opposite
