Hi to everyone, Just joined. Bought my 1st RR 6 months ago its a L322 HSE 3.0, 02 reg done 64000 miles. I live in Derbyshire. So far the air sus. has gone wrong 3 times. had the comp, reconned, and new sensors fitted,now booked in again for diagnostics. headlamp control shorted out,(£300). stereo amp shorted out, and now the steering wont tilt!!! Is this normal for a RR or have I got a duff one?

Steering not tilting is a well documented fault. Some info here:

I locked mine into place at the height that suits me. The motors are expensive to replace. John

Welcome. I'm in Chesterfield. I had a TD6 prior to my 4.4 TDV8.

All sounds like the normal issues. Plenty of info on the forum under the search facility.

Don't try and fix everything in one go unless you have spare cash. Sort the important stuff first....

Hi. Thanks for your reply.
My local garage reset the susp. fault and is driving ok at the moment.
But he said the fault code showed up said a software update was required?
Gordon Lamb said to sort it would be £85.00 initial fee followed by labour charges of £118.00 plus vat per hour????
Do you or anyone else know of a way to upgrade software with out paying 200 to 300 quid?

Not sure about the software update,maybe he is trying to get a few quid extra out of you !

You can't update any of the ECU's in the BMW based 2002-2005 Range Rovers so I'm afraid he is mistaken.... Pete

Isn't that TSB0033? Compressor run temp settings? Not an ECU update but changing parameters.

Can't believe there would be any FF's going around with the old values still in them, but you never know I suppose...

Is it an overheat fault that keeps coming on, if so maybe it does need the new values programming in...

What did they recondition in the pump, if it was just the piston ring it could still be the pump....

Can't believe a so called specialist doesn't know how to read and interpret the settings from the EAS and diagnose what the problem is, I mean it's a pretty simple system and the values are all readable, also they can update the settings with pretty basic diagnostic tools....

Think I'd try a different independent for a second opinion.... Pete
