2016 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Santorini Black

There is a tube on the in the engine bay with a little black cap on it. Push and twist to remove then plug in the vac. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammerðŸ˜œðŸ˜œ

Not being sarcastic here... The tube is where you would expect to find the dipstick sir... Left side front (ish) similar place to the 3,6

What is the best and most suitable vacuum to use ? There are loads on eBay?

I use one called mityvac, although it's not quite large enough for to remove all the oil in one go

Works very well

Just checked and the id of the tube is only 5.4mm so a 5mm tube needs to go down there. Thats not much of an id to get the oil oil out, especially if its cold! It must take ages!

The mityvac comes with different tube diameters that will fit down most (if not all) dipstick pipes

With warm engine, sucking the oil out of my last car took about 20 mins max

a tube doesn't go down the dipstick tube it attaches to the top of it, on the 4.4 the tube is connected to a drain off point at the bottom of the sump There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammerðŸ˜œðŸ˜œ

That's what I was told.... Could have been bamboozled though. Mine has a kinda of bayonet fitting on the top. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammerðŸ˜œðŸ˜œ

2013 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Baltic Blue

Two questions if I may...

1. Does anyone know where the vacuum suction hose fits to extract engine on a 4.4TDV8? Is it where the oil filter is located in the vee or some other place? and

2. Approximately how much new oil would be needed for such a change?

The 4.4tdv8 wiki method shows draining from the bottom which I don't want to do with fragile awkward to get to sump plugs.

see my post: ENGINE OIL RENEW & TRANSFER BOX OIL

This is the unit we use - its a 18L pump oil extractor- you can suck oil out or pressure it in - very very good - I think it cost us £580 but having said that worth every penny - does the job - dont buy a cheap unit - same as a ford !!!!!

All you have to do is connect to the oil tube ( see my post above ) - pressure the pump up by only 3 or 4 pumps - walk away have a cuppa T then come back and 9.5L is out - I've taken the sump off before to see how much was left and nothing - that's how good it is.

Remember what comes out goes back in - I have made a measure scale on the side - so I know every 1 litres what the level is. - when you buy the unit fill it with brand new oil up to 9 litres and mark the side - then add another 0.5 litres and again mark the side - then add another 0.5 litres to show 10 litres.

The 4.4TDV8 will hold 9.5 litres with a oil filter change - however I always run the oil at 9.2litres this takes into account summer weather when the oil and engine get hot it will not be over stressed/ full in the engine which is a no no - so many fill their cars to the max on the dip stick and in hot weather oil is under a lot of pressure
( the FFRR has a high pressure oil pump - that says it all )

bare in mind the electronic oil level gauge is not 100% accurate - you will notice it sometimes jumps a increment !!!

remember to put the Oil Drain black cap on after - ensure its pushed down and turned to lock - good luck ajac8

One last thing - its that easy to do - I do our cars every 7,000 miles - peace of mind

I have one very similar to that but only sucks the oil out.

Every other oil change I will vacuum out about 6 litres and then drain the rest from the sump plugs, just to check that there is nothing in the oil that shouldn't be.

I tend to do both mine and the wife's car at the same time, they both use the same spec oil. Once I have extracted all the oil I then use the empty containers to pour the old oil into to them take to the recycling centre to dispose of.

On the RR, whilst the oil is being extracted I tend to replace the oil filter, then check/replace air & pollen filter and top up washer bottle. By the time I have done all that the oil has been removed and then straight onto putting fresh back in. All completed in about 30mins and without having to put overalls on. Regards
