I'm quite new to the L322 so my advice might not be spot on.

1. Gear Lever. Worth checking that the linkage from the lever to the box is not seized/bent.

Not sure I worded it right, I can move the lever from park/drive/neutral/reverse but in the box it's self it's stuck in drive. The man selling it said he was just driving home and it popped up transfailsafe so he pulled over and tried put it in park but it remained in drive, ie trying to move forward against the brakes.

with car jacked and axle stand etc, underneath, there will be a cable selector . if someone is in car, moving the lever, the cable should be moving on the gearbox. if its not, you may have an easy cable replacment.

On the TD6 it is a metal rod. If the gear lever moves but nothing happens, sounds like it has come adrift, either at gearbox or at gear lever, although not sure why you would get a TFM ? .

Yeh im not quite sure what the message is related to yet, even after I had a recon box fitted to my other one if the old battery was low charge.
