Andyxxx does this show up on pictures? If it does, can members post up pics to evaluate how big an issue this is?

I tried to photograph the damage to my door but I couldn't get it to show up.
I will try and get some pictures of this courtesy car and see if I can get the faults to show.

As said before, this truly beggars belief , they must assume owners are muppets, it's not "character", it's clearly their issue!

Good photos and I would not accept that on a brand new car. I totally agree with you, this has to be sorted properly even if you decide to kick a ball against the door to create the same effect  MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Looks like a ripple where the door skin is bonded to the internal framework

I've had the car for a year and never noticed - so would agree with the above - it must be something in the manufacturing process that is pulling the skin in at that point. Without hacking a door apart, it's hard to tell, but some sort of vertical bar at that point seems reasonable.

I guess I must not have looked as closely ever before - but does make me wonder why they tried new doors if it really is something in the manufacturing process.

Mine is more noticeable on the passenger side - but that may be down to that side being in the sun.

The rear door is harder to photograph as the door skin does curve out slightly towards the back door. However this is supposed to be a gradual sloping out. On my car and on the courtesy car there is a distinctive crease line.
I must stress that the following photograph exaggerates the effect (in real life it doesn't look as bad as the front door) but I don't believe it should be there.
It certainly isn't there on the other side of the car or on a lot of the other cars I have looked at in the last 3 weeks.

I have just spoken to the dealer - this gets worse:

He has spoken to JLR engineering and they are telling him it is normal and is not a fault and there is nothing they can do about it! (They are not prepared to put that in writing.
The dealer says he has looked at all the new cars in his showroom and he says they all have it to some degree!!!

I am now waiting for Customer relations to call me back, but I can't see how this could get resolved.

I guess it depends on the range of 'to some degree' and whether yours is within the normal tolerance.

Not sure if you could even reject it on that basis.....

I don�t accept that a dent (�any dent whatsoever) is acceptable on a new 10K vehicle, let alone a �80 plus prestige vehicle, - so the tolerance is zero.
I am certain I can reject it, but that is not my aim � I really want the car. (It can be rejected for 30 days plus the amount of time it is at the dealership for repair/evaluation)

Is it a dent - or a curve in a panel ?

Was the law not changed at the end of last year to be more in favour of the purchaser? I'm sure it's easier now to reject a car. Previously..

This isn't a hand built vehicle. The doors should all be identical, save for colour or trim. Random variations in parts (ANY parts) seem a lot more like the British Leyland days where parts had only coincidental chances of actually fitting together.

Not good.
