Morning

I washed the car yesterday, all shiny and clean. Got in 2 hours later to collect at the airport and literally 150m from my house, the rev counter just dropped to zero, coasted to a stop.
Only message is AVoff on instrument cluster, came up as she died.
Cranked to no avail.
Left the car there for a couple of hours and used spare car for airprot trip, came back and still no luck. Towed it home.
The subsequent cranking attempts have killed the battery, tried a booster, still no go.
I'm sure i heard the fuel pump!
Can a weak battery stop the car from running?
Not sure where to start looking this morning.

PS: i have done searches, then some articles that look promising refer to WIKI, where/what is that?

How much fuel indicated in tank? Previous cars:
S-Max 2007-2013 (only diesel I've had, good car but expensive when diesely bits go wrong, so what's the point?)

Maybe the alternator packed up and it hasn't been charging the battery properly ?? Or fuel line/filter clogged or fuel pump fooocked. Have you got a IID or Faultmate for reading the codes ? MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

If the car was running and it came to a halt, and you cranked and cranked until the battery went flat and it still wouldn't start, that points to pretty much anything except a battery/charging issue to me. More likely fuel.

YUP, i concur.

Just put a new battery in, as the original was 3 years old and we have had a cold snap.
But no difference, must be fuel related.

Have to go on my work trip, luckily have spare car, will come bck to this in a day or three.

Sounds like fuel pump to me, get someone to listen near the tank when you turn to ignition II to hear it prime. If you want to check fuel pressure, take the pipe of the rail and run the same test, check it's getting to the motor.

Have you recently run the tank very close to dry?

Fuel pump, crank sensor, cam sensor, would be my first three things to look at...

Do you have an IID tool or similar, maybe get some helpful info from the live readings section.... Pete

Due to work commitments I pushed the car into the garage until I am back on the weekend.
I unfortunately do not (yet) have a IID tool, but has been on the list.

I will check fuel first, only odd thing is that during the excessive cranking I could smell fuel last night.
My radio also went bonkers and the AV warning was on the dash.
I checked for water ingress into the entertainment cubby in the boot but dry.
When I swapped the battery this morning it and the surrounding area was very wet.

Can someone clear up where I can find the live feed page and Wiki as referred to in posts.
I am battling with search and end up with reams of posts totally unrelated bar 1xword that I have chosen as reference.

Maybe you could try disconnecting the battery for 15 mins, and reconnecting.
Possibly, the AV system, is the cause, and is shutting something down.. You could also, tip a gallon in the tank. In case you are wrong.

YUP, I agree, wash-wet battery-problem!

I have disconnected the battery, no change, I am convinced theres fuel, filled up a couple of days ago and have done <200km's.
