My steering went heavy last week not like there was no assistance but low speed maneuvers are just a bit too much work I checked the codes and got a short circuit on the Servotronic valve so I changed that but no difference , did a bit of searching and found a reference to the BCU being the culprit . So does anyone have some experience on this ? and where is it ?very grateful for any input

Thanks Matt it was your post that put me on to the BCM issue ,don't suppose you could tell me where it BCU is and can it be programed with an iiD bt ?

The BCM module is located under the passenger seat, not sure on the iiD tool as I used my faultmate to code mine. If your BCM is original then it will more than likely be the Version 4 and a new one you buy will be Version 10, same units just the version 10 is the latest edition with slightly more options for the later vehicles but both are compatiable. The only thing you can't to is export the config of the V4 and import it to the V10 I just printed my old config out and manually entered it into the new module and hey presto it sorted everything out. One thing the V10 did show up which the V4 didn't is it complained about a short circuit on my washer pump system, still works but doesn't continually pump fluid you have to press the stalk a few times to get enough fluid on the screen which I have yet to sort out in the warmer weather.

Thanks I have asked Dan the man for the part so we will see and I'll now ask Gap if the settings can be saved and transferred with the iiD

I shall be following this thread with interest , as I too have intermittent heaviness in the power steering, plus intermittent weird behaviour on rear door unlocking, all of which seems to be down to a faulty BCM.

Just a thought but at the moment this might be a service only available to beta users with a BT iiD at the moment, I had to download firmwear with s unique build number and I think a lot of functions are about to come on stream for the production soft wear . But since most iiD users on this site are beta users it shouldn't be a problem . 2008 MY Supercharged
