Am l happy?? Rolling Eyes 800 miles...... after 3 months of it just sitting there, fixing little bits that have been unecessarily neglected by the previous owner, jobs that dont need money just time and converting a set of pajero hand controls to work on the l322 ( saving myself 750£s hence the iid tool) l am on a bmx with e.t. and am over the moon. Tracking is out a bit... but its so smooth, doesnt feel as rough and pin you back in the seat as the p38 4.6 but when you look at the speedo on the 4.4 l322 you realise your license wont last long...... its scary how smooth it accelerates, l mean l have had has fast cars, 24v 3.0 carlton gsi, calibra 4x4 turbo and still got my 7.0 79 trans am, all are ballistic missiles and you know you are moving, but the range hides its performance, l would imagine a maybach or bentley would feel just the same.

Craig, not my wife but a good friend (crazy rock singer bike racing chick) and no she wasn't giving him wine, he liked it a LOT so bottle would have been empty soon. My ex is at the backdoors of the GMC.

Glad to hear you finally got the controls in and are able to ride the FFRR. You are right that they hide their performance well, just wait till you get the chance to drive a 5.0 SC, no sound just LOTS of push. Ridiculous how fast you get propelled along.

Great to hear you got the bump stop access height sorted and the wheels are still well clear. I wouldn't be surprised if more people will start modifying it, maybe not as low as the bump stops but lower for sure. I had complaints from my shortish SWMBO and youngest daughter that without the running boards of the 4.2 it is harder to get in. So next time I get a chance to use the Faultmate, I plan to lower the access height settings as well Smile. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Hi, she is now sitting about 5 mm above the bump stops, as in the photos, l took it down all the way and checked all clearances and then took it up by 5mm so as she still sits on air.But still plenty low enough. Well l hope l have inspired people to get some easier access and its all thanks to you guys on here. And its taken me 13 years to get this one so hopefully wont have to wait as long for my first s/c
Very Happy

So am i right in thinking you've been able to adjust only the access mode height leaving the standard and offroad the same? I thought if you changed one they all changed?

On the BMW era FF's you can adjust all three settings independently...

On ALL the later cars if you change the height it changes all three heights, so, drop the access height and the standard and off road heights drop as well...

Sorry for the bad news to later owners....

I do seem to remember that GAP were looking into this but I may be wrong, or they did and it can't be done... Pete

Ok, mine is 2003 so hence able to adjust independantly. The std height seems to be thebaseline all others work from, l proceeded to lower the std by 20mm and theaccess then went too far so had to adjust the access. So it isstd height -65mm for access and by the looks of it will need to +20mm to the off road height to get it back to preadjusted height if that makes sense. Had no idea facelift were different sol hope l have not misled anyone.

Love that one Stan.... Rolling with laughter

The settings are different for every car, I think it's something to do with settings done from the factory, there is a maximum and minimum that they will go to and not every car starts off in the middle, if you see what I mean....

Just for info, how high you can go is controlled by the length of the shock, you can ask it to go too high, the shock maxis out and it keep throwing air into the air bag to raise it to where you asked it to... you can imagine what happens next....

The bursting pressure is something like 50tons but if your bags are old and a bit perished it's a lot less.....

Ask me how I know.... Whistle Whistle Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Gets expensive playing with these FF's when you know sod all, you learn quick though, that's how I found that the Delphi struts will go a couple of inches higher than the Dunlops that it came with.... If you want to know how high they will go safely then jack the wheel off the ground and measure the drop.... Thumbs Up Pete

That's good to know thanks, l was hgv mechanic until my crash in 2002 so have worked around air bags of all sizes and disguises from the early fully mechanical to the later electronic types, also after owning a p38 for 3 years, eas becomes second nature. However there are always things you don't know and an l322 is not a truck or a p38 so learning all over again and that one will not be forgotten Bow down . So that being said l will heed the warning if adjusting the upper heights. I really appreciate all the help and knowledg all you guys have.

Ach, I thought I was onto a winner here - some brownie points with Mrs JB, her one (so far) criticism of the FF is how high up it is.
But it's a facelift, so that snookers that it looks like Sad 2007 Vogue TDV8 with 255/55/20's fitted

Does anyone have any definitive figures for what sort of height reduction can be achieved (bearing in mind the shiny IID BT tool that's on my desk!)? This would be based on a 2007 facelift car.
