Here we go..Update

Two months in to ownership and O/S rear calliper is sticking on. Noticed vibration on the motorway yesterday and sure enough, disc was red hot.Try and clean the bill oddy thing or new calliper ?

I'd suggest to get a fully refurbished on from Dan, they're fairly cheap and the replacement is relatively painless. Unless you have a refurbishment place nearby, it is probably the quickest and easiest way.

I replaced both rear calipers when one seized though. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Two refurb callipers from Dan is the way to go - that's what I did when one of mine started sticking.

I work on the basis that the other one can't be that far behind, so get the inconvenience out of the way in one go.

I agree with Alistair, it is like no.2 is to go soon so considering the relatively low cost of the calipers and the little extra work when the one is being replaced, it makes good sense. My 2p worth Smile.

I remember that someone recently asked Dan for caliper prices by the way Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

needs to be done today though, car needed for next couple of days and no spare vehicle.
We need a ' dan ' in the north west. Local LR dealer carries a few bulbs and very little else, LR Supermarket can always get you one tomorrow so not much of a supermarket ! Only leaves Euro unless any one else has any other ideas.

In that case you could try to get the sticking one workable again if you have a good local indy that can do that type of work while waiting for the new calipers to arrive............ If you keep driving the bearings and disc will heat up and can get b*ggered because of that. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

When I got mine 2007 done I replaced caliper and both pads and discs, had 'em done by an Indy in Leyland (K Motors), did the same with the SC recently - much more expensive Big Cry they got the parts quickly, I think they are part of a group that also supplies parts, they also lent me a car for the day. Geoff

Are you doing it yourself ? Generally you'd be lucky to find a garage that can get you in that quickly.

They do Pagid at ECP. I can fit it at the garage next door who will open up his snap on chest to me !! Cant get it on his ramp though because the ' cheap' replacement engine he bought off eBay for an old shogun he's doing up was started on monday following two days of fitting..... and sounds like 3 monkeys banging spanners on the side of a biscuit tin !!

If you want a 'today' fix, then:

Go to halfords and buy a caliper piston retracting tool,
take the caliper off and push the piston back in
Get your partner to press the pedal a couple of times to push it back out ( not fully out though )
Retract it back in
push it out
repeat a good few times

take the caliper sliding pistons outs and clean then up properly, as well as the holes that the pins slide in, and replace with a good dose of grease.

Put it all back together.

It should get you by for a few days, but the problems will likely return later on. V8 or else ...

Got it on the ramp and wheel off. Disc and pads in reasonable condition. Dismantled calliper and checked piston which showed no signs of corrosion and which pressed in and out quite easily. However, hub very stiff so backed off handbrake shoes which freed it up a bit and so that it matched stiffness of other side.
Cleaned up the edge of the brake pads and the seats in the carrier to enable them to be a bit freer.
Just driven around 3 miles and the problem side still a bit hotter than the other side but not red hot.

make sure that you clean the caliber carrier where the pads sit, not just the metal clip.

ideally take the carrier off and file back the place where the pads sit without the metal clip in place, clean the gunk off the shiny clip and refit. the pads should fit back in with no force.

the corrosion builds back up and grips the pads in place causing them to rub on the disc. will help for a bit but eventually a new caliper will be needed.

the paigid ones from ECP are probably refurbs to be honest. the genuine new are expensive. Try your local motor factors, they will stock the refurb callipers, and TBH they will be as good as the ones from ECP as they are pretty much all using the original casting when rebuilding them in any case. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Great minds think a like !! Rubbed down the corrosion off the carrier like you said as this can force the clips out of position and add to the ill fitting of the pads. Generally get trade prices off ECP and Genral Traffic so I'll be checking out calliper prices.Must admit, its looking like the EPB is causing the problem. Backed the shoes off to just biting but if you go to far, the bill oddie thing registers a fault because it thinks the parking brake isn't working.
