Question.............. was running a 2009/10 disc but upgraded to the latest version 2015/16 but..............

The sat nav didn't do any update when the disc was inserted plus on the weekend past I went to Birmingham near the airport and there is a stretch of road that's new. My Tomtom satnav which has not been updated for over 18 months showed this new road but the suppose new disc didn't have this road.

So, is this disc I have NOT the latest version?
How do I check?

the 2009 disc already had the latest firmware so the pirated 2015 disc only updated the mapping.. ... - .- -.

Strange cos if that was the case why was the road I travelled on missing on the disc which made me think its not the latest version. Range Rover quotes.....

The only way you can 'check' as far as I know is to find a fairly new stretch of road & see if it's on the map - apparently there's a stretch near Birmingham Airport that should be there.....

I guess you could put the disc in a computer & see if the files have date stamps on them, but I wouldn't know which one was the map unless it has an obvious name.

AFAIK Land Rover haven't issued an update since 2009, so all you can do is go back & complain to your supplier, you could even suggest that the disc they sent you is a fake and that you want a refund

I did contact the seller to be honest and he said perhaps the map makers for LR missed the road etc but I don't see any difference between the 2009 and 2015 maps. Range Rover quotes.....

The maps aren't LR ones anyway - there are a couple of firms who do the maps & then licence them out.

I have asked the seller for a refund and put my 2011 disc back in because I don't see any difference let see what he says. Range Rover quotes.....

is this road near birmingham a recent build, if so then the peeps at navteq [who do the mapping] might have not got round to updating their maps and it might not be available till the new 2017 maps possibly ..

my 2015 disc seems to have all the roads i've driven on since i've installed it and thats driving down to the alps and back via various routes... ... - .- -.

Any satnav with possibly the exception being open source mapping, could be up to THREE (3) years out if date. POI's could be up to 5yrs out of date. Although they are getting better. There may be hundreds if new roads on the 2015 disc, you just haven't driven on any of them

Our little Close was built 10 years ago so 2006. My BMW mapping for 2013 didn't show it. My 2015 LR map does show it.

Make of that what you will but the Tom Tom has shown it since about 2007. 2017 5.0 Autobiography Supercharged

On a different thread, the official map store was mentioned

Even on there the latest 2016 map uses "Map data collected by HERE at the Q3/14"

i looked at that earlier on Alister and i couldnt find any ref to the range rover [and sport] 2005-2009 denso dvd map discs..

last i heard it was the genuine 2011 discs that sold for around £175 ... ... - .- -.
