Hi thats correct, I told you the exact same thing in my 1st msg today, Land Rover Denso themselves have NOT had the licence for this system since 2012, The very latest firmware version is on the 2011-2012 disc like you said, this is what i said earlyer. After 2012 they are aftermarket compaines that produce them, Not Landrover themselves. Dont think that the Firmware makes any difference to what maps there are becuase it does not. The Firmware is only to fix bugs and to improve the system functions. The 2015 disc i sent you is as you said not made by Landrover but i did tell you that on the other message today when i told you i had one of the 2012 dics come in today. and offered you an exchange if thats what you wanted, (offer still stands i dont mind swapping) This 2014-2015 disc is made for kenwood dv3200 systems and is produced by Phoenix, it works in various denso units as it does not contain any specific Firmware so it doesnt confuse the system atall. I could call you and have one of our tech guys explain the who thing is major detail but its not realy important. I have never claimed this product to be an officail Landrover product becuase they dont make these anymore and NEVER will again, this is why other compaines took on the licence to carry the support for these system on further because of the demand. I will do what ever is best for you as the buyer, at the moment you have a disc that is 2014-2015 but has a road missing that you hoped it didnt, i am sure this is just a 1 off road that isnt there as explained on previous messages but if what you wanted was a disc made by LANDROVER then i can swap it for the 2012 disc i have in stock that i was going to list on ebay tomorrow but i will save it for you if thats what you want. these Denso systems have the great thing of being open souce to other developers and luckily you as a Landrover owner are not stuck with just Landrover supporitng the updates for the system now they no longer do or will.

Just to add to the long reply i just sent with detialed information i just wanted to add that the disc is a Legal disc and has every right to be sold its not a disc made up of landrover and subaru content but you are correct in some of that information, the kenwood DV3200 is the same system in some subaru models so not only will this disc work in your landrover it will also work in some subaru models aswell. it is now made by another company NOT landrover, almost in the same way you buy a patern part for a car that is no longer in production. Land Rover gave up on these systems in 2012 with there FINAL release but that doesnt mean to say another company cant carry on where they stopped and thats exactly whats happened. the disc contains maps for 2014-2015 but will not improve your firmware as that was no longer supported past 2012 but that is not important anyway. I want you to have the latest and best possible disc in your car as you may aswell have the best possible map and poi data available for that system but by doing so it means using a product intended for kenwood DV3200 and using it in your landrover. 99% of people are happy doing that as there is no point in having old 2012 maps inserted just becuase the disc is a landrover one. you may aswel have a 2014-2015 disc thats produced by a different company but does a better job. If you insist on not using it i dont mind and you are free to send back for a refund i just think it would be a shame to stick with old information on your system. you know we actualy supply these to a landrover dealer in essex that has customers complain they want somthing newer than the 2012 on offer and they purchase from us all the time.

I took my disc out today, probably for the first time, as I've never had a problem with it.

What surprises me is the response as follows "you know we actualy supply these to a landrover dealer in essex that has customers complain they want somthing newer than the 2012 on offer and they purchase from us all the time". Range Rover quotes.....

TBH - Whilst using poetic licence on Genuine vs Fake - he actually sounds clued up and fairly sensible to me. I'm not sure anyone owns the licence or rights to produce an official disc - but it does seem that LR have no intention of any more upgrades.

So you either go back to an earlier dated official disc - or take a chance that the one you have is more up to date, albeit still missing some newer roads.

I have come to this party a bit late but Denso never made the navigation discs they made the hardware , Navteq were always the disc supplier so those long winded replies from the supposed "official "supplier is just someone digging a deeper hole for themselves.

I have been away from the UK for three years now so things have changed a bit and Navteq have disappeared but this is the official site I have found after just 30 seconds of looking and yes the 2011-2012 disc is the last one made .

I've actually got something thats up to date.

Out of interest who is the supplier of the dodgy disc.

There is a supplier put there who I have had a couple of copies off in the past and have never had trouble but they are decidedly non genuinne he apparently has 2015 discs available. But whether they are more up to date than the one the OP has is debatable..... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Following on from all the above out of interest I have requested a refund and the seller has stated as follows:

"Hi there, this is NOT a copy this is not a landrover version as they totaly stopped production in 2012 and no longer support this system, a company called phoenix took this over and this is why its possible for you to have something newer, these are intended for the kenwood dv3200 units but also work in the landrover aswell as the denso unit and kenwood dv series use the same techology. I cant make sense of the return request you wont find a Landrover disc anywhere for this system for 2015. Kind Regards"

"Hi Brian, This disc was advertised for landrover systems along with other systems as the item is compatible for those systems and owners of these units are always looking for an option to upgrade wherever possible, I have never had anyone before be dissapointed that the item was not Landrover branded becuase Landrover have not carried on production past 2012, Obviously im providing an option so your not stuck with old maps, The technology is the same on both the DV3200 Systems for Kenwood and the Landrover Denso, Litrally the only difference was the branding nothing else, If landrover decided to carry on with this system you would have pretty much the same disc but with landrover branding stmaped ontop. I can understand where the seller is coming from where Landrover no longer sell discs like this but the data must come from somewhere and if it is the case of selling another manufactures disc as a version that works on Landrover is that not a copyright issue?

Landrover don't make the discs any more as the seller correctly stated, support was withdrawn at the end of 2012. The mapping data is provided by navteq, and this can be licensed out to other companies, like LR or whoever wants to pay, to produce the discs.

So if Phoenix owns a license to sell the navteq data then all is hunky dory.  There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Thats correct, Navteq etc IGN etc collect the data then Landrover/Denso were the ones that used to supply the discs etc, Phoenix are based in the netherlands, As far as i am aware a fairly new company, although that disc that you uploaded a picture of i only had a few of those come in from a 3rd party the rest are as shown as the picture i sent you. i will show you the address from and invouce for Phoenix, Even better still we still have contacts at Navteq if if would put your mind at rest for me to email them and ask them send you an email for peice of mind, Navteq/Here have now sold up in late 2015 and have been taken over by the BMW Group so the future is unknown on what will ever get future updates but my thoughts are that the SD and HDD systems will carry on to be supported and the DVD based updates will be phased out.

What he's saying makes sense - there are loads of sellers out there selling blatant copies - it seems like he's actually trying to do the right thing - but I could be completely wrong.....
