Beaune is great, especially the old buildings being lit up at night with colourful designs. We normally stop there on the way back from skiing. Next Friday, on the way down we will be staying in Chambery to meet up with the rest of our group.

We are heading to Lyon for the overnight. Used to stop at Dijon but would arrive at about 3pm with little to do, so seems a bit of a waste of an afternoon. So this time we are heading a little further on the first day, and hopefully can get to Les Arcs a bit earlier as we may miss some of the morning traffic around Albertville and Chambery.

Lyon is always my overnighter on the way down - nice early start & miss all the traffic - usually on the mountain for around 10

Tinqueux There are loads of hotels in the same area & filling up at the Carrefour in the morning is a nice little saver on the fuel.

Do you need socks/chains if you have winters fitted when you get to the 'equipements obligatoire' signs? 2012 5.0L S/C

It's not snowy at the moment. You definitely don't need snow chains or winter tyres to get here. Discovery 4 HSE
