Andy. It was a right pita. I wonder if they could be replaced by stainless bolts? Would make it easier. I put copper grease in mine when I put it back together. I'm hoping this will help next time. You remind me of a young me, not much younger mind, perhaps even a little older!

Sorry, just read your last post.... did hear when I had the Merc with alloy callipers that you shouldn't use copper based anti seize as it rots the alloy, they do a special one for alloy.... Pete

Haylands, wasn't referring to you matey, so unsure of what the updated post was about. I was actually referring to my wife at the time but as I had had a few I didn't finish my post. Very Happy

And I didn't know that about the copper grease. Looks like ill be stripping it all down again then. Still think it might be better to drill out and put in a stainless steel bolt.

As for the wheel nut key, yup I did remember to take t off, Im actually thinking of binding them off all together and just replacing with normal nuts.

Apparently lots of people have had them shear off, this is being due to them being made in two parts, then leaving you to drill out the nut. Not good.

I've done some research on copper grease on alloy and I can't find any evidence that it will be a problem.

Fingers crossed.

A grand looking job there, Steve - what did you use to paint the callipers with?

Looks good mate, nice write up.

Hope you didn't forget to remove the locking wheel nut lock mate.

HI all,

I'm ready to do the upgrade to my up-to-05 FF with the BMW calipers.

I'm going to use the 4-pot Brembos from a 4.2 SC/3.6 TDV8.
I cannot find a reliable source online however as to what the part numbers are for everything. Backplates especially seem an issue as no-one seems to know if the 4-pot backplates and discs are the same size 6-pot ones, or a size inbetween these and the smaller BMW ones. I'm also struggling to find a caliper part number, I dont trust searching by model type/year as I know some TDV8s had awful 2-piston calipers for a while!
I know that the easy way around the backplate problem is to trim the existing plates, but mine need to come off anyway as they have rusted to pieces so I want to replace them properly!

Finally, I assume the brake hose fittings on the caliper are the same as on the BMW ones?

Hi, can I make P&P uprgade from 4 pot brembo calipers (3.6 tdv8 2008 model) to 6 pot brembo calipers?

I need to do this:
1) 6 pot calipers
2) discs
3) dust shields
4) Pads
5) difrent sensor

I have a whole used set to buy from a 5.0SC 2010 model and I wonder if it's worth it
