Gents like an absolute prat I locked my keys in the boot the old tailgate button strikes again so as I was 200 miles from home had my spare key despatched first class etc but then phoned the RAC who arrived and one hour later keys back in my pocket.

It was a tricky procedure and they used certain tools not generally available and still took over an hour and managed to get the keys out without the alarm but interestingly said they couldn't open the door or locks so still good |

That reassuring - I mistakenly assumed that they had opened the car without the keys |

I did something similar on the day I picked mine up. While swapping things from the Jeep to the fatty I managed to lock both sets of keys in the boot. Luckily the Jeep was unlocked with its spare key in so I still had transport. The garage was suggesting things like springing a door or breaking a window! No way. I phoned an auto locksmith who picked the lock for £80 and no damage. |

If the car is locked and you open the boot only with the remote, only the boot unlocks. The rest of the car stays locked. When you close the boot it re-locks. When your keys are in it you swear a lot. |

Glad it's sorted - it reminds me of a time when a friend locked his keys in the back of a new Audi Q5 - after much messing about with the AA trying to break in, the AudiAssist van turned up with a safe full of master keys (which failed to open the car) - the auto locksmith then took less than 30s picking the lock to get in .... |

I have done this lots of times as I've let the dog out with just opening the hatch, as soon as you shut the upper hatch you can hear the lock unlock itself!
