SRS Warning Light Illuminated

I noticed the the SRS warning light is illuminated on the instrument panel. I have looked at the workshop manual and there is no advice on how to turn it off. Does anyone know? There are no Land Rover dealerships in Cameroon and Land Rover don't plan to have any despite the large numbers of its products being driven around the country. My nearest dealership is in Libreville, Gabon - about 13 hours non-stop drive from Yaounde.

Regards,

Steve

Thanks for your reply. I have read the thread but sadly moving both seats forward and back with the ignition switched on but the engine not started followed by a restart has not cured the problem. I tried the same procedure with engine started and then a restart and still it has failed to switch off the light.

I am visiting Libreville for a couple of days this week, so I will pop into the Land Rover dealership here and ask them. I have the owner's manual for the car but it is in German. The workshop manual in the WIKI also does not give any advice on how to get rid of the warning light. Is this something that can be reset using the IIP BT machine?

Regards,

Steve

The IID2 can read and reset SRS codes, SRS fault codes most often will stay on until reset by a diagnostic tool.
Usual culprits for the SRS on most cars are the connections to the seat belt pre-tensioners under the seat, the seat gets moved, the connections get disturbed and you get a fault but that's not always the case.
It's best to get the codes read and go from there.
I've found the IID tool invaluable to avoid trips to the garage but as with all code readers/diagnostic tools it's just a tool to help point you in the right direction for fault finding, do not rely on or order parts off the back of just a code without further investigation.

I had the issue twice on my 04 4.4 and once on a friends and every time it has shown the fault as battery disconnect unit which is the pyrotechnic charge that disconnects the positive lead on the battery in the event of a serious enough crash to trigger the SRS.
All 3 times I have cleared it with the RSW allcomms which is a great piece of kit but only for the 02 to 05 models
