Might me, my 5 series BMW which is basically the same system had a res button where the heated seat buttons are on the RR.

i can confirm that pressing max after turning off engine and ignition does indeed provide residual heat.

Damn. OK thanks guys. I assumed the feature was only on the BMW engine but obviously it just doesn't work on mine.
