Central locking woirking on one side only

Hi Forum,

Hoping someone has some ideas. I have just bought a 2003 td6 range rover, the only issue is that the central locking only works on the drivers side. To open the doors on the nearside i have to go into the vehicle and use the handles from the inside.

My knowledge of these vehicles is limitied as ive only just got it. Does anyone have any ideas??

regards

Paul

Have you tried pressing the button again once the drivers side is open? I know volkswagens used to or still do this when one press opens the drivers side and two to open all doors! No idea if this would be the case on yours but may be worth a try as it could be hat simple! Probably not though Rolling Eyes

Hi Kbald,

Thanks for the repsonse. I have tried that. If i press it once the drivers door opens. When i press it a second time the offside rear door opens but nothing from the nearside doors.

Paul

I presume they lock ok? My guess would be Both NS latches will have failed... The central locking motor is held within the latch Thumbs Up

They are not that much to replace or if outside your budget? There are plenty being broken sir Bow down Thumbs Up

Well my nearside door catches have arrived and I am poised to take off the door card.

Before I do can I just run it past you guys as to whether I need to do anything before hand, if I remove the door card is there an air bag going to blow me into next week? Is it just a case of remove the screws etc. and you get access to the door catches?

regards

Paul

If you disconnect the battery Paul, the airbag system is dead sir...

But yes, simply remove the door card, remove the latch & refit Thumbs Up

Cheers Craig,

I think I will disconnect the battery, just to be on the safe side.

Thanks again for your advice

I had a similar issue when I installed new door handles. Only certain doors would unlock with others doing nothing.

I removed the central locking fuse and let the system reset. There is also a screw that calibrates the lock under a rubber bung on the door edge next to the lock. I undid it a few turns and then tightened it. Not sure it did anything but all four door locks sprang to life as normal!

Worth a shot if it is just a calibration thing. Tom
