I don't really see what the objections are to it.

You stop at a junction and the engine stops, you take your foot of the brake to set off and the engine restarts. The heating/climate control settings don't change. What is the problem?

It annoys me on the cars that I have driven. I tend to pull up (engine stop), flip on the electronic handbrake and take my foot off the brake (engine start). I don't like sitting at a halt with my brake lights glaring out but that doesn't compute with stop/start systems.

Test drove a SDV8 last week, it had stop start. Hated it, I mean the stop start. Wink

I would be turning it off first thing and never turning it on again.

I never trusted it working efficiently on 6am cold start before the car oil is up to normal condition. There was enough of a lag, however many mili seconds, that put me off. Never used it again. Am just pleased the off button is conveniently placed.

You need a clapped out Mitsubishi Evo for that. Laughing

If you put the car into neutral (like wot we was told as learners) and put the park brake on, then the engine doesn't restart when you step off the brake pedal.

I find it very annoying. Sometimes it stops, sometimes it doesn't. Also 2 times in the past week, it's gone to start again at the lights and not engage gear properly (D flashes on the Dial).

In stop/start traffic it's just annoying restarting ever 10 seconds - I find myself trying to drive round it by only holding it on the brake gently which seems to keep the engine running.

I nearly always just turn it off now.

I do the same - so hand brake on whilst the car is still in D. Then just press accelerator to go. I used to worry about l leaving it in D, but it never seem to do any harm to my last FFRR. 2024 Range Rover P550e AB

Stop/Start

I have it on mine and I think you can fool it by the amount of pressure you apply to the brake pedal i.e. light pressure when you stop and the stop start does not cut in
