Okay I'm getting very confused with the RR Blacks.

We actually want a Blue car but then I don't understand the difference with Baltic Blue and Loire Blue either!

So back to the Black point.

I saw a car (Jan 2014 car) that TOPIx said was Autobiography Black. It had a blueish speckle close up.

I've seen another car that is Mariana Black (Feb 2013 car) and the web tells me this has a blueish speckle in it too. Is it the same.

Then there is Santorini black which I think is more common.

Has LR changed the Blacks it has used on the L405? I think Mariana is a premium Metallic looking at current builds, any idea what Autobiography Black is etc., as I think possible when the L405 came out if you bought the Autobiography spec you had more paint colours to choose from?

Autobiography Black could be just about anything.

The 3 main blacks are -

Santorini - proper black
Mariana - dark metallic blue
Barolo - dark metallic burgundy

Mariana & Barolo look black in the dark, but blue/burgundy in the sunlight

A main dealer should have a colour palette that you can take a look at.

Santorini is not more common ! .........it's more popular

If you're looking for a blue car, then Mariana should be included in your list IMHO

The first time I saw it was at a dealers, I'd wandered around all their stock & they had no black L405's. Inside I was talking to the salesman & he had the perfect car for me - kept talking about this black car & when we went out for a test drive, he walked straight over to a blue one.....

Yes just to echo what others have said, the two I was looking at were a Santorini (black
Black) and Mariana(blue black) black

The Mariana looked black in the underground car park but I could see blue where the lights were shining onto it.

He then took it out into the Sydney sunshine and it looked like a nice deep dark blue .... I liked it very much, but also like black blCk cars so it came down to spec and price in the end

I have pics of both on my phone but To be honest you can't really tell from pics

I went with the black black (Santorini) in the end 2015 SDV8 Autobiography - Black, Cirrus, 22" Style 707 Wheels

Interesting I've just seen another car that on TOPIx shows as Autobiography Red, I think it's actually Bardolino Red. On TOPIx could the "Autobiography" bit mean it was one of the £6k premium paint jobs. I don't think Bardolino is available now but it was I think when the L405 first came out for a year or two, not sure if it was a super premium paint though?

The brochure I have shows Bardolino as an AB only option costing £6000 and available from summer 2013, the only more expensive paints were the chromaflairs (£8000). Only Range Rovers since 1988

Mine shows autobiography red, but in actual it is the premium Ruffina red. £6000 option  MY15 5.0SC

Great looking colour it is too.
