In my experience the new battery cures the problems for only a few days. if it's the alternator after a few days the full charge in the battery is depleted and the faults return. Rehab is for quitters!!!

Looks like it could be the alternator, not got the fault messages back yet and not gone into limp mode Yates but has started to say "special programs off"on start up.
Will wait till starts playing up and going into limp mode again then get back in touch with dealer.
Thanks Dave

Out in the car for a couple of hrs today and BAM all the faults and back into limp mode. This time after turning off and re starting it did the same over and over again. Started for about the 20th time and pulled away in sport mode, drove 10 miles home with no faults.
Put back in drive and went for a spin all ok again.
Dealer is coming for it on Friday and dropping me off a Mazda 6 said he will keep it till its fixed. Not sure if I will see it again Laughing

Dealer still coming on Friday,
Just been to London and back, 220 miles.
All good no snags at all.
Had it in menu mode all the way down and back, no lights on 13 volts, with lights on 12.5 volts.
Only had 14 votes for 2mins when first started this morning.
Sounds like alternator, well he's paying so it is what it is.
Just want it reliable, and not having to worry when in the outside lane of the motorway.
Thanks Dave

Dave, can I suggest again that you take a meter under the bonnet to measure the battery voltage after it's been sitting at least 24 hours and preferably over the weekend. No point in doing that tomorrow after the run you've had today.
Do not rely on the on screen voltage readout. Rehab is for quitters!!!

Yes am still suspicious of the alternator with one caveat. I've found sometimes the battery terminal, although the bolt is fully tightened, the clamp lead does not grip the battery post tightly enough. To test for this get a firm grip of the clamp on the end of both leads and see if they can rotate on the battery posts.

To test the battery, lock the car with the remote so alarm is set and leave it for as long as possible, at least overnight preferably 24 or 48 hours. When that time has elapsed unlock your car, open the bonnet and connect your meter straight across the two battery terminals, positive to red, black to negative. If the reading is less than 11.6 V it's likely to trigger all the fault codes which come up on the message display once you start the engine. Once you've started the car the battery very quickly charges up which is why when you turn it off and back on the faults all appear to go away.

Does that make it all clear for you? Rehab is for quitters!!!

Hi Dave, followed your instructions.
12.27 ignition off
11.6 ignition on
10.5 on start up
Jumped to 14 when running.
Went for a drive with hidden screen on and 14v for 10 mins, stopped at shop for 1 hr on way home 12.5/13 v
Thanks Dave

The hidden screen is just a guide not to be confused with an accurate voltmeter. Nor does it in my experience reflect the battery voltage
How long was the car left locked up and alarmed? Rehab is for quitters!!!

I'm just pasting this from another forum, but it's relevant

.quote............It's not 12 volts it's 12.6 because each cell is 2.1 volts.

If the battery is

12.5 = 85% charged
12.4 = 65%
12.3 = 50%
12.2 = 35%
12.1 = drained

Quick update, Dealer rang to say fault happens every time car is started now so should be easy to find fault. Changed two sensors as they were the cheap option and fault is still there. New high pressure fuel pump fitted and all OK Very Happy Very Happy
He is bringing it back today, cant wait.
Strange thing is, looking back through the history it has had two high pressure fuel pumps in the past !!!!!!
They said the wiring has been checked and all ok, but makes you wander.
Will keep you posted
Thanks Dave
