6 hp gearbox oil change

6 hp gearbox oil change
Gearbox oil change
MY 07 .Can I drop my gearbox sump pan off without having to take any other bits off, checked on Wiki and they all appear to refer to the 5 HP BOX and not the 6HP as fitted to mine.
I will be fitting LR original parts as replacements and I remember reading somewhere problems with the filter tube. Needing extra clearance when removing and refitting..??
Mis posted in the 405 section....Ooops

Yes you can. I'm mid change on mine (long story and even longer oil change).

I made sure I could undo the filler cap (do not, as Pete and I have both done, undo it completely with the engine off... Hilarity will ensue for any passers by).

Then made sure I could undo each bolt just a little on the tray. Everything torqued back up and took the dog for a drive then a walk then a drive to warm it up. Undo drain plug (suggest using a big funnel to help direct the gushing oil) and drain. Take off sump (I left some bolts in front and back to hold it in place until all 21 were out), watch for any extra oil left in the pan. I gave the rim a clean from muck (on box) and then fitted new one. ZF have a 3 page flow chart / guide in PDF form if you Google for it. Very useful and pretty much idiot proof. Ed
