Coming from a Defender, you may find the performance of the TD6 acceptable - I found it dire - the TDV8 is significantly quicker & more torquey - you really need to drive both - but your budget its putting you well into good TDV8 territory - so the question should be more like can you stretch to a 4.4 or will you have to make do with a 3.6 |

Personally if your going up strata and thinking of any offroad stuff save money and get a td6 or SC under £10k.

You are definitely into tdv8 territory at 20K, and performance wise that is the better option, its faster, torquier, and in the real world if not more efficient then at least as efficient as the td6.
