Lost for Words, I really wanted to use the reinstated Quote button but it would have meant too much editing |

Not quite sure I follow? ![]()
Kind of, and kind of not. I would phrase it more the opposite; there's a misconception that the slower you drive, the better driver you are, which is even worse I suppose. Good point re policemen! It's all very frustrating when I sit behind someone that's dawdling and can see the mistakes they make, can see them braking at the wrong times and can see their lack of confidence because I have been a biker, I've done an advanced driving course and I have a background involved in rallying, yet I know that they probably think they're an excellent driver, and so do many others. Our roads are being stretched to their capacity, yet so often a simple increase in people's will to get a move on (not speed, just stop dithering and dawdling) would reduce traffic build up hugely, but IMO the vibes are the opposite. ![]() Discovery 3 TDV6 Auto HSE Zambezi Silver ![]() |

Well I wish that bloody Tesco's and Waitrose would take notice of that, cos they still drive up the 421 from J13 to MK at 40 ![]() Interesting though, that they have finally seen the need to have everybody doing the same speed on a single carriageway.... it does sort of remove the need to overtake and plough head long into the on coming traffic.... wonder why nobody thought of that one before ![]() ![]() ![]() Inventor of the 'Guide-o-Matic automatic wheel alignment tool' Former long term L322 owner, Up/Down graded to a Classic Tractor! |

^^^^ Hell yes! Defeats the whole point of a roundabout. I would like to see all mini roundabouts restricted to only three exits as they rightly should be too. |

Where i live in Chadderton, there is a roundabout (if you can call it that. It's more like a rectangle with a curve at each end!) Called the gardeners Arms (the pub at the side!) It has 6 junctions feeding into / out of it with the associated pedestrian lights attached, and filters attached to the lights themselves so you can't see the light turn to green ! Every day is a total nightmare trying to negotiate it, and the traffic congestion caused backs all roads up and can take up to 20 minutes to negotiate.

Funny you should say that........ I live in the land of a hundred and sixty something roundabouts, Milton Keynes, when it gets to office kick out time, the only roads that have any real traffic jams are the roundabouts with |

We've seen exactly the same in Warminster town centre when the traffic lights have failed on a few occasions - much better traffic flow in all directions. Things have got worse still because they've installed a new pedestrian crossing just a few yards from the other lights and it now conflicts with the main traffic lights causing chaos. The Amesbury roundabout on the A303 is another classic case. |

The best place to see non-traffic light controlled roundabouts working in perfection is the Magic Roundabout in Swindon !! No lights, no fuss !! Tony
