No problem gg2201.

The pool of decent information in this section certainly helped my decisions and I'm just trying to add to it.

Cheers

Hi All,

Just a quick update.

I've covered just under 5000 miles on LPG now in the past 4 months including one trip last week on the continent of 1500 miles.

The systems been pretty much faultless with no other incidents since setup or anything untoward happening.

Consumption has averaged 13.5 MPG measured tank to tank on fuelly with most of it being short journeys around town. 65-70 on the motorway returns 15+ MPG and 80-85 returns 13-14.

The figures aren't stellar but the car does have rather knobbly GG ATs fitted.

Getting LPG in France and Spain wasn't a huge problem with a fair number of stations around doing LPG. www.mylpg.eu was handy for checking for stations and planning the trip for minimum fuel stops.

If you're travelling abroad you will need a set of adapters to suit the country you are visiting. I got a set via Ebay for £40

I'll get the system serviced at the end of the summer and get Peter to drop the changeover down a little and also the RPM at which it changes over. The arbitrary 1500 rpm is a little high for the V8 RR and even though I may be up to temperature sometimes 30mph is just under 1500rpm to switch the system over.

Cheers

I've done roughly the same mileage on my BRC converted 08 4.2SC. All teething problems in the first few weeks are all resolved. I get 244 miles on a full tank of gas on the motorway. Around town I get about 200, though I do live in the countryside.

Just back from France this weekend, forgot adapter Sad found one in a BP garage on the highway and paid €12 for it. Average paid on the highways was €0.93 cheapest found was €0.82 in Brittany.

Cheapest I have paid since conversion a few months ago is 56p a litre in Birmingham, 15 mins off M6 :0 (The Gas Station). I live within 2 miles of a station selling lpg for 69.9.

No loss in power at all, and very hard to tell it's been converted as the filler is very well hidden right bedside the toe hook at the rear.

I pay an accountant to make my company tax efficient, now my car is also tax efficient Thumbs Up and there's nothing better than filling up for £57 when all around you are double that figure in run-of-the-mill motors. Current:

Hi All,

As a bit of a further update having now done just over 9000 miles on LPG, if my man maths rough calculation saving 20p per mile is correct then I've now paid for the conversion and have already saved a few hundred quid Very Happy

Even more good news is that local LPG is now down to 58.9 ppl.

Cheers

Where in Kent are you paying that price, I'm in west malling and it's just dropped to 65.9p !!. Last weekend filled up lpg for £50 which got me all the way to Chester with plenty good speed runs on the small roadwork free sections of Britains motorway network, fastest speed attained on a motorway which cost me £5.50 to use!! So 244 miles for £50 in a 3 ton gas guzzling beast Current:

Hi Swithins,

United Taxi's in Ashford. Might not be worth the trip from West Malling but worth knowing it's there if you are passing Ashford.

Cash only though.

I have a prinnz system, and it's faultless. It was fitted by previous owner at 65k and it's now 155k
I had zavoli on my old p38 Rangie. The only thing that was a slight issue (on that car) was that sometimes if it switched over in snowy below freezing temps. The lpg sometimes struggled to vapourise. So it spluttered if floored. Obviously it warmed through fairly quickly, and problem wasn't a problem. Just a characteristic on a super cold morning. Possibly due to long water hoses on vaporiser. I use lpg at Wandsworth shell at 65p and same at sainsburys Cobham there is a topic to lpg prices ie locality.
Also as I have posted before. I like having a spare wheel, so, I have mounted an upright 'skinny spare' space saver from a disco 3 on left in boot. If you do this you will need 5 extra steel type wheelnuts.

In case anyone was wondering...

I had to put some petrol in yesterday as the light had come on. It had done 1,000 miles since I put the last £20 in.

So for my short journeys it's using 1L petrol to 24L of LPG, or about 2p per mile.

Cheers

I have got a 2002 that was converted 8 years ago by Capital Autogas has been fantastic for 135000 miles. Now due to upgrade it but can't get hold of Capital Autogas as want advice before I buy my next one.

Hi All,

Just thought I would update this a little.

I've done 19,000 miles now on LPG and it's certainly been an excellent decision.

I had the changeover temp dropped and also the changeover RPM to 1250. Now when I start the car from cold I let it do it's initial fast idle for the 30-60 seconds and then pull away once the revs drop. In summer it's an almost instant change to LPG and in winter it can be as much as 200 yards (it used to be half to one mile of driving before changeover) Thumbs Up

Average consumption of LPG is up a bit but I use almost no petrol now and LPG is down to 49ppl locally.

Cheers

thats all well and good ,how you have it, but, when you are starting from hard frosty mornings etc, the lpg does need to be going into a warmed evaporator. if there is not hot water flowing through it, it will not evaporate, and the fuel will not flow,, and you can get a bad splutter and stall. especially trying to move off. in these conditions, overide to petrol, untill temp needle is nearly at 12 o clock. I had this on an older rangie, and it means you cant pull away, like turning right etc. car will run, and revv, but can freeze inside the evap, and damage it.

otherwise... all good!

just re-read above, and i already said this a year or so ago..in previous post Rolling Eyes
