All I can say is Thank You/Merci!!!

I've been saying for yonks now that it can't be that hard to get something to replace the CD changer and do what we all want it to so which is stream over BT or provide USB input and integrate semi decently with the standard HU!!

Think I'll be spending some pennies on this and junking my CD changer as even selling it might be an option to bring down the cost some more... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Question for you Weegie, Do you have an iPhone and how well does it, if at all, charge the phone when connected via USB as i cant find any stats to show what power it will push over the USB cable as the normal USB limit is 500ma which can be annoying when you want to charge your phone and listen to music/podcasts across the USB interface.

I only ask as two of my cars have Pioneer MVH headunits in them which charge the phone at about 1.5a which means they charge up quite quick and when using satnav on them they trickle charge but don't drain. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Sorry I don't have an iPhone. If you send an e-mail to Umno-Tech he should be able to advise. As I mentioned previously, he says he isn't comfortable with English on the telephone (unless your German is fluent?). He did respond to all e-mails.

HTH

PS. Just had another look on the site and it says this "Provides charge and control for iPod / iPhone / iPad (cable sold separately)" John

Cool cheers Weegie.

Im guessing the separate cable is just a normal Phone = > USB cable but i'll check that when it arrives Smile Think i might do some extra strip down and run the USB cable into the cubby box via a long usb extension Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

The sixth photo above shows where I put the USB/Aux socket. It's a long extension which runs behind the right hand passenger footwell trim to the cubby hole. The trim has to come off to remove the glove box anyway. Thumbs Up John

Cheers Weegie, I saw that as they offer the extension on their website but i was thinking more the cubby box that is under the centre armrest as then its hidden all the time Smile

And then i can plug my iPhone or other smartphone cable into that port and leave it loose coming out of the armrest cubby Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

@kingpleb, I understand now. Was thinking of glove box but can see the advantages in the cubby. Thumbs Up John

Well I've started the install on mine as I'm replacing the changer... Needless to say it's amazing at the amount of panels I have off it now! And the structure supporting the dash isn't exactly flimsy either 😄

A test run earlier wasn't getting the unit to power up as I was using the power from the CD changer. I may have to his halfrauds for a piggy back fuse to use to see if that resolves the issue before I plumb it all in. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Well it's fitted and seems to be working, will test with a USB stick tomorrow. It does however need the fancy Apple adapter thing to work so I've asked them where it is on their site as now I need it typically I can't find it!

Glovebox out was a mare as so many panels have to come out for it
End trim
Panel below vent trim
Cup holder
Vent trim
Under glovebox kick plate
Side plate for centre console

And then hidden underneath are two torx screws retaining it to the fuse box so they need to come off. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

And BOOM it's in and working a treat!

All I can say is feck me! That lag of changing folders or tracks on an MP3 cd... GONE like the wind after a heavy curry and beer night!

Honestly one of the best things I've done on the beast!!

Downside is that the required adapter for iDevice integration is sold out and not due to come into stock for a few weeks so I'm down on the waiting list.

The hardest part of the job is all the sodding panels! The end trim needs to come off and the vent and the venture cam one as well.

All in all very worth while.

Now from all the dust I got over the panels it needs a wet wipe and microfibre cloth going over that area and the adapter and I'll be a happy bunny 😂

Very big thanks to John who called me from France last night to give me some tips on it.

The instructions mention an initialisation is needed. I read further into this and the manufacturers site from Russian to English and this is purely for the Volvo setup not LR due to a security feature used by Volvo. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Just fitted my usb kit, it can be done in about 2-3 hours including 4 cups of coffee on a cold Saturday morning.
1 hour for the glove box removal, then loose fit to make sure it all works. I have the aux cable as well which works great with my phone .
