yours has xenon dipped and mains Mat, when switch to mains there's a little flap that moves in the xenon enclosure ....the separate halogen mains are basically only for flashing other road users.. ... - .- -.

AH I see, thanks! Good job I didn't bother sticking some more powerful bulbs in there then - I might stick some LEDs in instead in that case NW060

Now that is an interesting idea - presumably this is after replacing them with a much dimmer LED bulb so I dont blind oncoming cars?

As I normally drive with dipped beams on all the time, I'm wondering actually if I could install some hugely powerful spotlight bulbs in there rather than fitting a set of external spot/driving lights for late night country road driving NW060

the iidtool will only give you 2 settings for the drl/mains , 40% and 60% so you wont dazzle on coming traffic and you can still 'flash'.. ... - .- -.

Bit of a bump here - just found this awesome tutorial online on changing the sidelight bulbs - after reading lots of internet articles about removing headlights or needing the hands of a 4 year old, it turns out that the sidelights themselves (on prefacelift cars at least) are a doddle to remove!

Powerful uk have a habit of making things look easy, probably because they have dismantled the bits and re-assembled previously. The side lights do indeed come off reasonably easily provide the plastic wing nuts holding them in place are not corroded onto the screw threads, which they inevitably are. Then they are "difficult". Thumbs Up

I obviously struck lucky as mine was a 10 minute job earlier Smile
Though on the driver's side it was still a huge faff as the intake pipe coming out of the wing restricts access to the plastic nut to just a fingertips hold on it. What a great bit of packaging... Rolling Eyes NW060

Not tried the indicators though, so don't know about them.

Hi,

Some googling from a few yank RR forums has suggested that these might fit, they have the special offset bayonet. Can anyone who's actually been inside their reversing light unit confirm they look about the right size?

A super useful thread on LED alternatives for supposedly non-LED-able bulbs here, scroll down to the post from "Boo":

Yes those H6 bulbs will fit provided the pins are correct. No indication of Wattage though. If you decide to try them it will be interesting to see the results.

Right, I tried these tonight...

They fit, only just, I think the tip is pushed up against the lens.
When looking at the back of the car they give a lovely white light and visually look great
However, they give off a worse spread of light and, whilst I didn't think it was possible to be worse than the original L322 reversing lights, they definitely are!!!

Sorry everyone, but from my experience these are not the simple solution we are all looking for 😥 2006 FFRR TDV8 Vogue
