Strange Lumpy & Unsettled Ride This Morning - Sub Zero T

Hi all

First time I've drove in sub zero weather and I found some strange lumpy behavior. I set off with the Terrain knob in auto and the gearbox in D but the system had reduced acceleration a lot, in keeping with the temperature I expect. The road was bone dry, no ice or water etc. so I selected Road driving and S for the gearbox, then the gear changes went jerky, acceleration was very lumpy (almost like clutch slip type of feeling) and the back end felt like I was riding on a flat tyre. I pulled over immediately but no flat tyre, so I set off again, still a bit lumpy etc. so I swapped back to Auto & D and as the RR started to warm a little it went back to normal driving, has anyone else experienced this kind of lump and unnerving ride in this colder weather? It felt like I was driving on sheet ice or something for a moment, really strange?

Before you all say it, selling is not straight forward (see my other posts), and its in on 18th so if it happens again I will mention it, but some feedback from anyone who has felt it would be helpful?

Thanks

Carl

Yes mine is the same. Once fully warm it's totally fine. My previous RRS's were the same as well, so I'm not worried at all. 2014 SDV8 Autobiography Cool

Don't recognise that behaviour in mine. But haven't had frost for a while. There's some on the way, apparently. I'll report back.

Don't think I've experienced any problems with the handling.

I still like my L405, although I have had more niggles on this than my previous RRS's. I hope this not a sign of future build quality of LR vehicles. Sad 2014 SDV8 Autobiography Cool

On my way home I noticed one particular junction where pulling away had a very obvious lack of available power so I took it out of auto terrain and as it moved to manual I noticed it displayed the grass setting, as if it was in the grass mode in auto, no wonder the power wasn't available.

What a strange vehicle I have, and another blank when I called the dealer about it.

The "grass" setting is "snow and grass" so,in sub-zero temps, auto-terrain will indeed select that in auto mode. When one cancels auto mode, it does briefly show you what mode it was in before you canceled it.

It was dry and I was travelling at approx 60mph, yet it was cold, about 2-3 degrees but surely that's not the right condition for grass and snow settings, WTF Censored

If you aren't going to elevate your case with Land Rover, just sell it - the colour of the tyres will be upsetting you next.

Yes perhaps your right, but then I don't accept sub standard crap, if it wasn't sub standard I wouldn't be on here moaning about the many faults the car has.

Ive explained many times on here that Im not fortunate enough to drop £15k in depreciation in a short time and not care about it, so fixing was my first choice. Clearly others find it a chore that Im in this situation so I apologise for that.

Im not at all, but I really just wanted it sorted, I dont want to have to sell it if I can avoid it, I love a lot of things about the L405 and dont think theres a better looking 4X4 out there, but Im really struggling to get a resolution from LR and the dealer network, you guys seem to know the most so this is always my first option, and mostly means you also see my complaints.

I really wish I wasnt, all I want to do is enjoy the ownership, Im not a wealthy man, its going to cost me a lot of money if I sell it and buy something else.

Sounds to me like your auto terrain response is still on somehow. I get the slurry gear changes, etc when it "thinks" its slippy....even when it clearly isnt.

Popping the TR selector out of auto sorts it for me. '14.5 SDV8 Nara Bronze for sale
