Mine does that too (jump / shudders), it only does it when I go to the Folks, their driveway is downhill and on reversing out on to the hill (uphill, back higher that the front all the time) that they live on, if I give the car a foot full it will jump/shudder/hicup, I recon that it's low oil / all run to the front of the gearbox sump, and when you hit the loud peddle the rest of the gearoil rushes forward starving the box hence the loss of drive, in a rearwards fashion
The gearbox probably needs a deeper sump and lower pick up to cure the fault, but as it's only when your going backwards, does it really matter? just be more gentle with the loud switch Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
