New Windscreen Glass Needed

Had autoglass around to fix a stone chip, but its too big so need a new screen. The fitter said it would be a pilkington screen. just need to check it has all the OEM bits (acoustic, green tint, heated etc), anything else i should watch out for??

There are a load of posts on the RRS website relating to screens - the advice is you need to get an OEM screen no matter how much autoglass whinge or try and say the screen is equivalent.

There are a number of instances of non-oem screens prematurely cracking or breaking because they have not been manufactured to the original LR specification - even though in some instances they have been made by the same manufacturer. Replacing a screen is a pretty big exercise, pulling off bits of trim etc, so better to do it only once?

Had mine replaced Tuesday this week by autoglass - was a non LR stamped but made by pilkington with same code numbers, tinted / heated etc - trims fitted back on with new clips - so far (3 days in) no problems wipers work (but better than before) on auto

Pilkington make the screens for LR so it will be ok.

I had a Pilks screen fitted by Autoglass and it was spot on. Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Have you considered, your insurance policy...normally comprehensive policies..you only have to pay your excess. So it makes sense to choose a policy, with a smaller excess, if you have a nasty chip, coming up to your mot...

Mine was £75. Make sure it is fitted correctly though. I had to have mine changed as the previous one (also a replacement one before I bought the car) had been fitted too low and was touching the body. As the shell flexed the screen cracked in the lower right hand corner. The fitter struggled to get the wire through that cuts the sealant.
