Yep, wheels are now 18's, it had 19's, I wonder how many Range Rovers actually have smaller wheels than when they left the factory...

Tyres are 3" taller than stock, looking at some 275/70/18's which will be over 4" taller....

Did toy with the idea of trying VW T5 17" steel wheels, PCD fits and offset is about 6mm different... wondered if steel 17's would fit over the callipers as the wall thickness of the wheel is thinner... night work but I can't be bothered, would need to enlarge the central hole as well and there are now a few more off road tyres available in 18" so it doesn't make that much difference... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Pete

What's next?

Has the lack of a fully-locking centre diff ever been a hindrance?

Several little jobs but nothing else major planned, I do fancy a colour change just for the hell of it but we'll see....

Had all four wheels spinning on more than one occasion, also had all four wheels doing nothing, on very sloppy mud, with the accelerator flat out and had to turn off the DSC to spin them up, the TC does work very well when you learn the knack of the best way to use it...

So no not really missed it.... Pete

Read somewhere (and apparently it's in the user manual) that once you switch the terrain response to a non-road setting you should switch off the DSC anyway. It limits engine power when you might need it most.

Haven't got into a situation since I learnt that snippet to try it out yet. Ed

Did a bit more today, it needed an oil change and the front brakes sorting as the discs were totally shot...

I'm a strong believer in using genuine or OE parts where possible but I'm not that impressed with the way the standard discs work when soaking wet or covered in mud, they don't seem to clear the water or mud as quickly as they should so I thought I'd try some Terrafirma slotted and drilled discs and some EBC Green Stuff pads, a couple of mates run them on Disco's and recon they are superb, so lets hope they work well on an L322...

I had to take off the front sump guard, to change the oil, so I decided I would finish off the front bumper fitting. The idea of the slashed sides to it were to help with getting the front wheel on objects, this was limited by the sides of the guard that protected the washer bottle which is fitted very low in the front of the wheel arch..

The idea was to see if the washer bottle could be moved up, It's held in place by two 10mm bolts on the bottle itself and two more on the filler on the top of the inner wing, after unbolting, it was moved up and a bracket made to support the bottom of the bottle that was bolted to the original top mount so the bottle has moved up it's entire height. There is just enough room to do this, it's slightly compromising the front light bulb change but no more than the aircleaner does the other side...

Then it was just a case of cutting off the bottom part of the wheel arch liner...

Before

After

I even remembered to fill it up with oil when I let it down off the ramp... Thumbs Up Pete

I'd be curious to see how the slotted ones hold up because I know of a few people who've had brakes torn up because stones etc get stuck in the grooves and holes. Admittedly on Defenders. Ed

landserge, Well thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thumbs Up

sako243, can't see stones of any significance getting stuck in groves that are about 2mm deep... stone entrapment is usually down to the metal mud shields and I took them off a long time ago.... Thumbs Up Pete

The plus is , if the grooves work for your off-road but the discs prematurely fail on your road work , you can always go back to stock discs with grooves cut in before fitting ...
