Carlos, your post reads that you're not actually pushing for a refund and that you just want the car to be right. It all appears as though you are being patient and acting reasonably, which in the event you cannot resolve matters, should help your cause.

Thumbs Up

It is true that LR have no liability to you as your contract is strictly with the dealer you purchased it from. However, LR do not want any more bad press in relation to reliability. If you make enough noise and keep escalating, you will end up in the Executive Office which is where things start moving nicely. They put a lot of pressure on the dealer to sort things out.

It is, however, possible that you have a lemon. And if there are any lemons, a 13 plate from early production is more likely to have all the issues. Heck, I have a 16MY vehicle which still has issues LR issued bulletins about 2 years ago...

A big thank you to everyone for their advice, I think one of the biggest hurdles will be getting the dealers to agree with the faults, they seem completely unable to do that at the moment, a good example being a thump from the car somewhere near the back a few seconds after start up, they had it for 1 week and brought it back saying they fitted the fuel tank baffles and it sorted it, I drove it next morning and still thumping, how hard can it be to listen?

The dealers seem clueless about thus stuff, when I'm telling them what its doing (or not in my case) its like I'm talking another language, I'm yet to have a meaningful discussion with anyone from 2 dealers and LR customer relations.

God help me, its booked in on 18th Jan, I want to prepare my argument, for body pitch and roll, is there a way I can prove that mine is out of spec rather than just describing it? For example, the dealer commented that the front bounced twice when breaking to a stop from slow speed so changed the air struts, I still think it bounces. I have always said it rocks side to side a lot and drives like the tyres are flat, can I give the some sort of proof so they cant say they aren't sure? Getting confirmation has been impossible in 8 months, they just wont talk to me.

Carl

I'd insist on being in the vehicle with the tech to demonstrate the problems and ask to drive a demo vehicle of the same spec with a tech as well just to get the point across that the problems shouldn't be occuring You can paypal direct using - www.paypal.me/duckworthparts

Hi Dan

I drove a 15 plate SDV8 with the same wheel option as mine about 5 months ago, fantastic, the difference was huge. One thing I always notice is how gently the tech's drive the vehicle when I've been with them previously, its as it they are doing their utmost to prevent it from displaying any of the issues I am complaining about?

For the next appointment Ive requested the service guy comes to my house (he lives locally) and Im going to take him out for half an hour, lets see what he thinks afterwards?

I can't believe this is still going on Shocked

As above - ask the tech to come out with you while you drive - and point out all the faults to them.

If they dispute any, then insist on going out in a similar vehicle to check.

@Carlos, the only meaningful discussions we ever really had during two years of dispute reference our - older than yours - approved used (L322) was with the selling/ maintaining dealership group and latterly their appointed solicitor... even then, progress was only made resultant from persistence and our written records.

LRCR, in our experience, was a completely ineffective channel to direct serious bona fide grievances towards. Yes, they might be of some assistance/ have some dialogue with the dealership and/ or might appear to secure a result on less serious matters, but if an impasse exists between your stance (what you say the problems are) and the dealership on serious matters, you might find LRCR putting the hands up and quoting the fact that because it is a second hand car, it is between you and the seller as opposed to a problem for LRCR to resolve.

However, I was under the impression that even A.U cars were covered by more effective LRCR governance where cars are under 3 years old, because that's exactly what a LRCR representative told me earlier this year.., just before they notified me that I was on my own when faced with the might of a national motor group and their solicitors. This is not a gripe but a factual experience (of course other peoples experiences of LRCR might be more positive regarding really serious matters)

You need to be able to show a written audit trail of the issues. If not already done you have over 2 weeks to get your house in order and draft a timeline of your adverse experiences and previous reports to the dealership/ LR. Consider also, paying for an independent specialist to assess the car. Even if you don't recoup that money, for the sake of a couple of hundred pounds against such an expensive car, it could pay dividends, long term.

Don't be fobbed off if you genuinely think something is amiss but if there is ambiguity and dispute as to whether or not problems remain, you will need to be resilient and persistent. Thumbs Up

If you're ever near Peterborough, you're welcome to try mine - I've even got my summer 22's in the shed to make them exactly the same for a back to back test Thumbs Up

Sounds to me like you need to find someone else local with a similar car - that way it's easier to demonstrate what you mean.

Might be worth a trip over to Duckworths......

I'm sure someone will have already mentioned it somewhere, but if the car rolls a lot , wouldn't that relate to the adaptive dynamics or roll stability control devices? I thought it was these that limited the body roll (assume in conjunction with the air suspension).I don't know if they are standalone management units with their own software or part of the main ECU etc . Have these been checked? Besides the engine, the roll is the biggest difference that I have noticed in the car , the way it now goes round corners with a lot less of it than my old L322. The old one leaned a fair bit (but never felt unstable), whereas the L405 round the same bends at the same speed or higher is significantly less. Just a thought. Steve

@Carlos,

Accepting it's your car and you know what just doesn't seem right, have you read other forum views or professional reviews just to try and get different perspectives? An internet search using keywords "forum l405 range rover body roll complaints" found a few interesting things.

One was a long term review by Car Magazine, albeit they used an SDV6 which might not have as much technology as yours?

Just a thought to see what the wider world thinks too:

Extract:
"All L405 Range Rovers come with standard air suspension, generous body travel and a rebuttal of the premium German doctrine that customers value sportiness above comfort. The body lopes over bumps like a lilo on waves, pitching under braking, leaning into corners. It’ll be tough for Bentley to match that pillowy ride, given the conflicting goals of phenomenal power and speed... My fellow editor at sister magazine Auto Zeitung can’t abide the Rangie’s wallow: sure, it doesn’t handle like a Cayenne, but mechanical grip is strong, and the steering stately but supremely accurate. Drivers like [my fellow editor] need the effective Dynamic Response switchable anti-roll bars, only fitted to V8s."

I've read that article, the V6 doesn't have the Dynamic set up so cant be compared. Autocar tested the SDV8 against a Cayenne Turbo and the guy commented on how well it handled, it was part of the reason I expected a better ride, I came from said Cayenne Turbo.

I've driven a new one, same car, same wheels etc and the suspension was excellent, nothing like mine.

My understanding was that in general terns, the L405 isn't going to compare with the handling of a Cayenne because they're two entirely different cars (in fact I was under the impression that the RRS was more likely to be put head to head with the Cayenne/ I've never driven the L405, the RRS or the Cayenne)?

You'll obviously know the reality though if you've driven the RR and the Cayenne.

I'm not trying to compare it to a Cayenne Turbo at all, I'm comparing it to reviews, other comments on here and how it drives, I know its not right.

Well, if you're at stalemate with those you want to do something about it, hopefully you can soon drive a like for like MY so as to be able to directly compare two near 'identical' and comparable cars; and then be able to say exactly how it's not right, in the absence of being able to prove your point by any other means. Fingers crossed you get the outcome you want Thumbs Up
