The first thing I would do is check the battery voltage when driving and checking the battery voltage when the car has stood for a couple of hours without the engine running.

thanks chaps have fitted new battery, alternator putting out 14 volts, have done the steering angle sensor reset and purchased and are useing the britpart lynx diagnostic system, thinking about it the fault code is saying that the ride height control switch is not working but it is working and the car moves between ride heights? |

You could try un-plugging the abs ecu and checking for corrosion on the pins and in the socket.

Nice day got it in one. The BUS system is sequential thus when u get a fault in one area (eg ABS) it trips all the others such as HDC, EAS etc. I had this and the dealer wanted to charge me £1000 for a new ABS unit. Told him to go for a long walk off a short plank, opened the unit and there was a small amount of green corrosion on one spike. Brushed with toothbrush, electrolyte stuff and ne'er a twitch 4yrs later. |

the steering wheel is slightly off center as though the tracking needs doing, we have replaced lower suspension arms but no track rod ends, will give the abs ecu a going over and report back, many thanks for all the help, mark. |

It's possible your tracking is slightly out.

According to your original error message from the ABS ECU 'fault code 008a no message from ride height control (ehc) control unit currently not present' then it suggests there is an issue receiving ride height info via CANbus from the EAS ECU (it's not the height switch but from the height sensors via the EAS ECU).
