6 months in - How long before the problems started?

Had ours for 6 months now and it has been great. Hassle free. Actually, as you would hope for... A pleasure to have Thumbs Up

Compared to our last one (pictured) which was exactly the opposite:

Maybe an age and mileage thing too of course (because the last one - nice and documented to the hilt though it was - it was over twice the age and mileage)?

Could it be an age thing? I've always thought the best car to buy is the one furthest into its production life with the ideal being the last one before being superseded by a new model. This is based on nothing more than the thought that, as the production run progresses, more kinks are worked out and processes and parts become more refined, being developments of the originals. Probably naivety at it best/worst on my part.

I think that makes perfect sense Giant.

Run out models also get the parts bin thrown at them so the specs are normally that much better. 2017 5.0 Autobiography Supercharged

It's amazing how one car can be so different to another of the same in terms of reliability. Some have no end of trouble, yet someone else will own theirs for years and years without a single issue. Servicing and maintainence goes a long way, but I suppose you can never eliminate pot luck in it's entirety.

Generally, that's sound logic, but sometimes MY differences and improvements can reverse/change it etc. (D3 is a strong example). Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Based on my 2012 WM I agree about the spec, but am less sure about the problems side - I bought mine (an ex demonstrator) aged eight months and with <5000 miles, but needed a new gearbox after eight days and made 22 warranty claims in the remainder of the three year warranty, a mixture of corrosion, build issues and electrical failures.

It's still the best car for my needs and I hope it will settle down and be less trouble in future. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Had mine just short of a year. So far only the ignition switch has failed. Although it seemed to work ok after I stripped it and sprayed it with WD40, I opted to change it as a precaution. So far that's the only issue but with 130k on the clock I know some mileage related issues are bound to surface eventually. As the car was a Landrover management car for the first 3 years I'm hoping that all the other stuff has been done already.

Aye, maybe a bit of luck of the draw too (some great, others not)... What's 'the usual broken wire on the front strut issue' please?

The usual “active dynamics fault” on the dash Ryan... Leads to a broken wire under the cover to a front strut... Well documented on here Whistle Happens to most 09>MY’s sooner or later Rolling Eyes

The Mk2 of any model is the one to buy...

The Mk1 is the test model.
The Mk 2 has the problems sorted.
The Mk 3 and onwards is when they start to cut production costs.

Very Happy
