Could it be an age thing? I've always thought the best car to buy is the one furthest into its production life with the ideal being the last one before being superseded by a new model. This is based on nothing more than the thought that, as the production run progresses, more kinks are worked out and processes and parts become more refined, being developments of the originals. Probably naivety at it best/worst on my part. |

It's amazing how one car can be so different to another of the same in terms of reliability. Some have no end of trouble, yet someone else will own theirs for years and years without a single issue. Servicing and maintainence goes a long way, but I suppose you can never eliminate pot luck in it's entirety.
Generally, that's sound logic, but sometimes MY differences and improvements can reverse/change it etc. (D3 is a strong example). Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK Discovery 3 TDV6 Auto HSE Zambezi Silver |

Based on my 2012 WM I agree about the spec, but am less sure about the problems side - I bought mine (an ex demonstrator) aged eight months and with <5000 miles, but needed a new gearbox after eight days and made 22 warranty claims in the remainder of the three year warranty, a mixture of corrosion, build issues and electrical failures.

Had mine just short of a year. So far only the ignition switch has failed. Although it seemed to work ok after I stripped it and sprayed it with WD40, I opted to change it as a precaution. So far that's the only issue but with 130k on the clock I know some mileage related issues are bound to surface eventually. As the car was a Landrover management car for the first 3 years I'm hoping that all the other stuff has been done already. |

Aye, maybe a bit of luck of the draw too (some great, others not)... What's 'the usual broken wire on the front strut issue' please? |

Eight years and two L322's in and nothing much to report apart from a front air spring and compressor on the first one and that was done on the warranty , it doesn't have to be all doom and gloom 2008 MY Supercharged

The usual “active dynamics fault” on the dash Ryan... Leads to a broken wire under the cover to a front strut... Well documented on here Happens to most 09>MY’s sooner or later |
