Im going to be taking out AA roadside cover and i noticed their Parts and Garage Cover option. it adds about £70 per year onto the policy and pays unto £500 parts and labour it can be claimed five times per year.

Seems a pretty good deal but just wondering if its too good to be true ? Has anyone one here had any experience with them that would recommend it ?

Does sound good but I bet the hoops you have to go through to get it make it unworthy but hope not as it's the AA Many thanks

It's like any insurance product - at an aggregate level, they intend make money - there will be more in premiums than they pay out.

So I guess it depends whether you feel lucky - or rather unlucky - in that you will break down and they won't be able to fix it at the roadside - and will need to take it to a garage who will charge more than £70 to get it back up and running - and that happens every year......

Does it cover a proper repair, or just enough of a fix to get you to your destination ?

What can you fix on a Ff for less than £500...... In parts and labour......

Not much is the answer. If anything big goes wrong then you aren't covered such as turbos and gearbox. And anything smaller than £500 in p&l should be fairly straight forwards in any case! Turbo hoses and the like are patch able and cheap to replace.

Brake components are easily stripped and short of a completely knacked calliper they will be able to fix it at the roadside, would save the £70 if it was me. Or buy a more comprehensive warranty. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Done a few repairs for the AA Claims. As long as the patrol attends the car, and makes an initial diagnosis, they can tell whether the failure is a covered item or not

The repairer then confirms diagnosis, and phones for authority

As said though, £500 doesn't cover a massive amount on an FF, but it's better than nothing

I also 'think' that the insured vehicle has to be fully maintained in accordance with manufacturer's specifications AND servivced at an authorised garage with the service book stamped so DIY'ers won't qualify..........

I've had the aa breakdown and repair cover for 3 years. It's been great. I've had a few things done through it. Battery, ecu module, that hedgehog part behind dash, and both front suspension airbags. Even if the aa get you going again like when the battery went flat they will have a new battery put on if that's the problem or replace the part which is causing the drain at a garage of your choosing. The land rover battery was £450 ish so only cost me £25. Same with both airbags at the front, £25 each. Bargain. 2003 Range Rover HSE 3.0 TD6
