2002/2005 FRONT DOOR LOWER BASKET TRIM FIXING HELP PLEASE

Hi Gang,

On my RHD 2002 G4 L322, the driver’s door pocket trim came of (it was glues when I got it) so the pins/clips must be broken (see pics)

When I put the trim back in place with the couple of alloy pins I have, they do not even clip in and the trim falls off instantly.

See documents below including the diagram please

Do you know what I need to order from the diagram to get the right fixings please: the inner black plastic bracket (part 22606), the actual foundry grey trim (20998) or do I need the HS1 pin and HN1 parts (I only have a couple of HN1 alloy pics and am not sure if they are broken or not.

Also, still for the G4, I am going to order front wipers and IIRC I did use Bosh 888 {EDIT they are 808, not 888} on previous L322. Do you use them or have something even better – note I do not wish to upgrade to newer shape or style wipers, keeping the Rangie original as much as I can.

{EDIT } the odd thing is the outer trim seems complete really, It only misses 3 alloy pins, however even the 2 remaining pins do not hold anything at all hence why I think it needs something to stick onto, either the inner bracket or the clips/pins receivers.

do you know if the outer trim comes with build in pins, guys?

Thanks l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

I recon you need a new outer trim, unless you can get all that sealant off it, then 22606, which looks like a part that fit's inside the door and grips Hs1 and Hn3...

Think I'd ask Dan at Duckworths what he thinks though..... Thumbs Up

Sorry, can't help with wipers I went for the flat blade ones and really like them but no good for keeping it original, don't think you can beat Bosch though.... Thumbs Up Pete

Just had a look on Microcat and HN1 is listed as an M6 Flange nut, so that would suggest to me that the missing link is an M6 T bolt, not an alloy pin, and you'd also require an M6 Flange nut to go with Thumbs Up

Something along these lines

Thanks, this could do indeed. I guess the pin should snap on to something too.

Does anyone know how it works from the factory though, as there are no screw/nut to be seen really - l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

Question ^^ where is the pin coming from? HN1 is a flange nut, it must be attached by a bolt / stud, there is no other way of fixing a flange nut correctly. I suspect that the trim was forcefully removed at some stage in your ffrr's life and was bodged back into place with what looks like some PU flex adhesive (the black stuff). There must be a corresponding hole in the door card that the T Bolt, which clips into the broken trim, is pushed through and then the flange nut is applied to the inside of the door card holding said trim in place.

Yours has suffered a bodge and therefore I can only assume that the T bolt and flange nut are absent, which is causing the slight confusion.

1 line the trim against the door card and make a note of where the Bolts should poke through the door card, and check to see if there is not a stray Square headed bolt and nut in the card.

2 you'll need to stick a couple of bolts to the inside of the broken trim, I'd recommend Rapid Epoxy or similar, poke them through the holes and fasten with a flange nut, or a nut and washer Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Can you do a zoomed out picture of the broken / back bit of the trim, the whole thing not just a close up, think I have an idea of what's going wrong, I think we are both right Shocked Wink Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

External fixings are bolts, the 3 inner ones are pins. One is missing

I added the black goo when I got the car while waiting for a solution. the trim was a bit loose when I got the car indeed.

I do not mind ordereing a new trim if it solves the solution, but this one being in good condition I would like to fix it if possible.

I guess the new one would come with the 3 pins, I would then need to order the 2 HN1 screws. Let me check if HS1s are still here.

The way the trim fits, it is a bit curved and it need the bolds to hold it, otherwise it kind of want to become straight/less curved and pops out.

glue wont fo it, it needs a proper fixing indeed. l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

Right now I see it in the full, you are missing 1 pin from right of centre and the 2 bolts from the ends that lock the whole thing in place., are you sure that there aren't any bolts (square headed) in the door panel, they would be at either end of the trim.

The missing pin should be easy enough to replace, what about a pop rivet with the stem cut off? Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
