torque converter started vibrating slipping and snatching ,so ordered a recon of ebay on thurs afternoon took it to my mates garage stripped it and managed to get the box back in by 5 oclock with just a couple of bolts ,finished it friday,totally different to drive alot smoother,having red up on recon torque converters ,rang a guy named doug ,he knows his stuff ,recons them with uprated kevler plates and give 2 years warrenty. |

Don't suppose you took lots of useful photos of the strip down and rebuild for others to follow? |

Probably worth pointing out that the torque converter lock-up clutches for the TD6 and the V8 models are completely different. The TD6 GM unit is similar to a manual gearbox clutch friction plate assembly with a sprung centre for torsional vibration absorption, so is relatively straightforward to remove and replace.

no photos as i was in hospital when it was being done the torque converter was brought of ebay of a bloke called doug he is bmwe39man,his number is 07802504000 |
