Looks interesting. Also that the CD player can be retained if wanted. As I understand it it is inserted in the MOST circuit at any point so if all one wanted to do was use a USB stick it could be inserted in the boot so avoiding all the stripping out to get to the CD?

Personally all I want is to be able to play music from USB and a large one (they quote up to 64Gb) would fill the bill and avoid any inconvenience of having to frequently change the USB. All the other requirements - phone etc - are adequately cover by the standard system for me. John

Looks interesting, but my Charman is not up to deciphering the fitting instructions. Big Cry
And I don't understand how "it is inserted in the MOST circuit". John? Bow down Does it involve cutting or do you think the connections are piggy-backed in some way?
So, 'forever', looking forward to reading how you get on if you decide to go ahead Thumbs Up Or anyone else, for that matter!

Steve, The optical circuits pass through each element in the line so unplug one side of one.
Plug the new unit in and then plug the previously unplugged lead into the other side of the new unit. That's as I understand it. Could be wrong though. Neutral John

That's how I read it too. I would take out the 6cd changer and replace with this, you could also plug in a Bluetooth USB dongle to get Spotify etc from your phone..

Ack-cherly, I thought at first it was Plug 'n Play (he said, trying to sound convincing Whistle ), but I started to have doubts when I saw pics like these in what I assumed were the installation instructions:

Never having ever undone any MOST connections, I have no idea what they look like!

Just had a look at the instructions (Google's Jairman was enough to understand Very Happy ). It appears that if the CD unit is retained the new unit must be installed between the CD player and the head unit. If it isn't retained the new unit can be installed anywhere in the circuit.

That's what they say. Very Happy Must say I am tempted. Smile

Could remove the CD player at the same time as installing the reversing camera you made me buy, Steve. Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter John

I hadn’t dared say any more as I bow down to the superior knowledge of forum members Bow down , but when I Google-translated the instructions linked to the pics above (my 2nd post d. 30/11), it seemed to me to be all about having to split the MOST cabling and didn’t seem to be Plug ’n Play at all. In addition, I can see in the product photos only one MOST socket. Big Cry
Am I wrong, or am I wrong? Has anyone looked closely at this?
How do you see it, John, Plug ‘n Play? (And yes, yes, go for it – this and the reversing camera. Then you’ll be able to listen to music on your USB stick while watching where you’re reversing! Whistle It's "bĂ©bĂ©choon", ackcherly, with accents. 'Steve' to my chums.

If you remove the CD player then one MOST connector for the new unit would be sufficient. The MOST connectors on the RR optical circuit have two fibre optic cables going into them. One carries the signal into the unit it is connected to and the other carries it away into the system (for want of a better description). IIRC the direction of travel is marked on the connector.

Looking at the fitting instructions there appears to be a connector (No 2) which is of a similar type to the RR ones. If that is correct then the connector removed from the CD player would plug into the new unit and all you would need to do is provide a power supply.

They appear to provide the means to retain the CD player but I am not clear on that.

As they have written a lot of the site in English I will ring them tomorrow to see if I can clarify the requirement. I tried today but was too late.

PS. If you look to the left of the picture of the connectors on their instruction page (as you have pasted above) it says, "Note: Arrows on connector indicate the direction of optical signal". John

^^^^ Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
Thank you, John!
When you've installed it all (and your reversing camera!), you can tell me how you did it and ... I'll think about doing the same! (But retaining the CD player)
Good on you. Go for it, you brave chap, you! It's "bĂ©bĂ©choon", ackcherly, with accents. 'Steve' to my chums.
